just watched a video jug clip on greenside bunker shots were rickard opens the face of his sand wedge to 'reduce the loft' am i missing something as i would assume if you need less loft isn't it easier to use a lob wedge and keep the face neutral for an easier shot ? tried rickard's method today and it worked brilliantly .......... about every 10th shot!!

Opening the face would increase the loft, and also the bounce.

Closing it would reduce the loft, useful from buried lies.

i am useless from bunkers just dont have the confidence to HIT it and wimp out during the shot.

level5's try telling yourself you are hitting your favourite club and commit to the shot. You could also try and finish with a TV pose like the stars on the tely cos the only way to get it is to swing thru the shot.

If your scared to hit it out of a bunker. Aim two inches behind the ball and give it some wellie, not matter how hard you hit it, it shouldn't be to drastic! Get in the practice bunker!
