Who is everyone tipping for the Open?

I fancy an each way on Tommy Bjorn but really thought he would be higher than the 50/1 I got.

Bjorn nearly won last time at Muirfield.
Straight hitters to the fore so good choice.

Franny Molinari seems like a good bet. As an outsider I fancy a Scot but can't make my mind up. head says Mark Warren, heart says Stephen Gallacher.

Some unknown yank that straight away thanks God in his victory speech for giving him the correct yardages, or whatever part God played in it. We haven't had one of them for a few years and I do miss them.

Shows you how much I know, half the guys I fancy have not even qualified!!!!

So

Having looked at the odds for my once a year £10 bet [£2 ew on 5 players] I am going with.

T Bjorn 40/1
F Molinari 66/1
A Cabrera 80/1
R Rock 125/1
J M Jiminez 125/1.

I know it is because many folk bet without any great knowledge but I cannot for the life of me understand why Tiger is short odds favourite.

Same reason that Rory is one of favourites,if they bring their A game they could destroy the field.

Rory is a favourite? seriously. well I suppose some have money to burn.

The Open prediction is as easy as getting a horoscope bang on, all the qualifiers have the game to do it, but do they have the cahonies, the patience to handle pressure, and the rub of the green in Open week............time will tell. It's also weather dependent as well.

I fancy Sergio as an EW..... Its course he likes and has won on before...

Im also backing Ernie and Jason Day ew. Both their Major records top 6 has been excellent over the last couple of years.

To win.... Adam Scott I think ..

I would look at Muirfield's past champions before having a punt, only one of the 14 winners didn't win more than one major and his career was split by world war two so in short you are looking at a small number of players who have either yet to win a major but are clearly destined to win multiple majors, someone who has one major but is destined for more or a proven major winner/performer.

To my eye you should be looking at these guys

Woods, Mickelson, Day, Els, Cabrera, McDowell

For me Mickelson looks a really good fit, he is a great shotmaker as all the past Muirfield champions were and he showed at Merion he that he can be more disciplined than in past years,

As an outside bet I would offer up two past champions at 150/1 and 250/1, Stewart Cink & Justin Leonard.
