At our place we have the BRS online booking system and it goes live on a Monday night at 8 and you struggle to get a time before 1.30 by 8.10.
Fast forward to late evening Friday, weather forecast is pretty poor and many spaces start to appear.

On the day many people have failed to turn up, not sure if they have notified the club, but they are not there.
We walked on to the tee at our time, Bigslice and I, and the place was deserted.

There was some talk of people cancelling earlier when the weather was poor and trying to go out later in the day when the weather had picked up.

What happens at your club and should you be able to withdraw either on the Friday night or Saturday morning and play when the weather is better ?

entirely as issue for the club to resolve appropriately for the situation - if it's causing any members problems they should formally raise it with the committee.

We have the same system and I do notice a similar pattern. Once in a while we have spot checks to see who has not turned up but not heard of any punishments handed out.

Do not see any problem in pulling out if the forecast is poor providing they inform the club or cancel their slot. It is when they book the tee time and simply do not turn up that is the really frustrating part.

Same thing happens at my club, although the cut off point is midnight Friday for rebooking.
Annoys me when you can't get an early time so have to take mid/late afternoon then people withdraw early morning because of rain I then can't move to an earlier preferred time on the day of play

We don't have a booking system so its never a problem. We have the tee booked for comps and times are drawn but you can opt to roll up and go out in it later (providing you haven't already put your name down for the booked times). I think in terms of convenience, just being able to roll up is worth a chunk of my fee. I can turn up after work and just go out without having to worry about getting a time.

At our place the only online booking is for social golf - competitions are via a stamp you pay for and place on the entry sheet for a set time period (40 minutes). Draw is made Wednesday before the comp we have very few no shows for comps. If you do withdraw and it is not considered a reasonable reason you forfeit the entry fee.

Where we do have a problem of no shows for tee times is at the weekends for social golf usually Saturday Morning. The slots are full and sometimes we get there and no-one has teed off for 20 minutes or so while we are waiting for our allotted time - Saturday Morning is the only time when you can't book social golf online so it isn't down to the booking method.

Same at our place. Would be difficult for me to play with a tee booking system. Having the freedom to turn up in the afternoon and get straight out after work or wait till it quietens down a bit by hitting some balls on the range is ideal for me.

Don't get me started on booking systems, cannot understand why a properly run private members club should even consider them. I play at 2 clubs, one uses the booking system for ALL times 8 days in advance, the other uses it only for competitions.

Guess which one runs the best............

We are on BRS and the booking sheet is closed at midnight on Friday night /Saturday morning. Any no shows without a very good excuse are banned for 2 comps. Every week is monitored. Not many bans are needed.
