Despite my best intentions Sky's relentless bludgeoning of my senses with its scummy, grubby, sickeningly disengenous online betting ads sees me now reduced to betting my house, my car, my kids and wife against Wayne Rooney stubbing his left big toe in the 57th minute of Man Utd's next Premiership fixture.

I had, until now, managed not to get drawn in despite all the £30 free bet offers for a year or more, but then in a moment of weakness I finally succumbed yesterday evening.

Am I betting responsibly or has the fun stopped rather too quickly?

Come on Wayne. Don't let me down son...

I just hit the mute button when adverts come on, regardless of channel

I can only think that people who think online betting is fun lead very sad lives!

I'm surprised Sky Sports hasnt spontaneously combusted / imploded after the apocalyptic football result from earlier. I mean, c'mon, the Premier League is the greatest and most important thing since everything began.

Goodness only knows what people did for entertainment before 1992.

I tend to switch to a different channel or go make a cuppa
I tend to yearn for the days when BBC were the Golf Channel.

Dont get me wrong as obviously I have Sky, but their endlessly moronic lowest common denominator demographic targeting approach irritates the absolute bejesus out of me.

I love the beeb golf but i dont think they've ever even attempted to televise the US Open or the USPGA.

Maybe I spend too much time watching sky and I now just tune these ads out but I actually can't remember seeing any betting ads tonight.... or last night!

I wouldnt have admitted that. Mr R Winstone has probably been dispatched to your house with a load of his comrades chanting BET IN PLAY!!!!!

There isn't as many betting ads in the golf breaks - there is a good deal number YGT and AG adverts though

Recent break included

William Hill £50 Mil predictor
Compare The Meerkat
American Golf
Motors Co UK
Sky Movies Advert

He's all over the ad breaks in the football but the golf too? I'm going to try and pay attention at the next ad break.

Think you must just "switch off" automatically when the adverts come on, otherwise you cant fail to notice

trouble is that it puts pressure on the individual to start betting, as if everyone else is doing it, then you must somehow be missing out
Subliminal is the word

I have been known to play Poker. Brag and Contract Bridge with my friends, but at least there is a bit a social interaction involved!

But some people would say that anyone who plays them must have a very sad life
