One Wedge

Assuming your PW is about 48 and your SW 56..how about a 52? I have seen the cleveland cg15 going for £44

I think you need to look at your current wedges and how you use them before you decide. For example, a lot of GI sets have wedges with hideously wide soles on them, so maybe look at the type of shot you want to play before deciding. You may want a gap wedge or might find with your current setup that a 64* for those smooth 95 yard shots would be best ;)

Apart from the sw an pw, if you had to choose just the one more which loft would it be? And also recommend me a model :) . My last round was mince around the greens.

Boring answer: Learn how to use the ones you've got rather than buying another one you can't use.

More helpful answer: You need to think about bounce as well as loft.

Nothing over 56 then?

to be fair if you are saying you are mince around the greens then increasing loft above 56* isn't going to help you one bit imo.

Until you get your confidence back you should consider chipping with a 6-8 iron (as long as theres no bunkers or water etc to go over). You'll probably enjoy chipping more as well.

When I got fitted for my wedges at the start of last year. The first thing the fitter did was:

What is the loft of the iron sets PW? In my case 46°

He then asked what was the most lofted wedge I wanted to carry? In my case 58°

He then asked how I would like to fill the gap based on how I prefer to play. Do I like to hit full (2 more wedges) shots or be creative (1 more wedge)? In my case creative.

It was then a case of filling the gap. My avereges went PW went 116 yards, my 58° went 84 yards. Tried a bunch of lofts to see what filled the gap. The best on average was 52° with 102 yards.

Answer those questions based on yourself and you won't be far off

Not sure if this was tongue in cheek... I dont think I would ever get a 64* to travel 95 yards unless I thinned the heck out of it! :o

Interesting point and not something I would think off. I'll give that a bash. Our greens run fast though...

You are new to this forum, don't worry you'll learn the average forum distances quickly. Just wait for the next 'How far do you hit it' thread ;)
