I'm playing Kingswood in Surrey on Monday. Its down to others to catch me but I have to play well and need to score about 32-36 stableford to be ok to reach the final. Posted on the forum about nerves and pressure, so I hope all the great advice will help.

But, here's the thing. Do I go for it with my woods or play it safe with my irons of the tee?

What do you all think?

Don't know the full story but I do know that playing conservatively can often have a negative impact, as in when you've played a great front 9 and are trying to protect it on that back it often falls apart. Read "Going Low" by Patrick Cohn and he'll tell you one of the few things that every successful pro golfer has in common is that when they get to 5 under, they're trying to get to 6. And if they get to 6 they're trying to kick on to 7. That said as you obviously know you have to play the percentages, if you've blocked yourself with a poor drive take your medicine and accept that bogey isn't a disaster. Trying to rescue the hole with a miracle shot lands you an 8, which is.

Good luck and I hope you reach the final! PLay ball, that's all you can do, and don't worry about what others may or may not do, its completely outside of your control.

I'd recommend just playing your normal game, it's got you this far so why try to change things now? It'll just be one more thing in your head when you're stood on the tee.

Good luck.

Hit woods 30% of the time then!

My rule would be par 4 over 360 take wood, under take iron.

On par 5s aim to be inside 150 when playing your 3rd shot. Hit the tee and second shot to be doing that.

Combination of playing your typical game but also what club you trust and feel confident in given the shot in front you each time. Don't necessarily force your usual game to fit when there's a better option available.

Firstly congrats !

Secondly, play the golf that has got you this far and you are deffo doing something right

Lastly, have confidence in yourself and don't overthink it.
