hi all

next week myself Neil Tappin and photographer Kevin Murray are heading to the US to go behind the scenes at Titleist's clubs HQ in Carlsbad

We'll be testing the new 917 metalwoods that Titleist's Tour guys are starting to put in play, meeting Scotty Cameron and checking out his studio and The Gallery shop (looks v cool http://www.scottycameron.com/gallery), spending time with Bob Vokey in his workshop and visiting the Titleist Performance Institute to see what happens there

There will be some big mag features down the line but next week we'll be posting pics and vids on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram so if you're a fan of all things Titleist, Scotty and Vokey be sure to keep an eye on social

oh and any questions you want us to put to the guys over there then post them below - we'll get a bit of swag from the Scotty Cameron shop for the 3 best questions that we end up asking

To Bob vokey....Can you ever have too many wedges in the bag? I have 4 including pw(used to be 5).

For the average amateur what would you recommend?

Another for Vokey..

Is it best have one wedge you're particularly favourable with, and master lots of shots. Or have a few wedges that offer more options?

To Bob Vokey, at what point will there be a saturation point where you simply can't invent/add any more technology or improve a wedge?

For Scotty Cameron

Would you ever recommend a player carries 2 putters, one for distance putts and another for shorter putts. Has your view on this changed at all since counterbalancing was introduced?

a couple for Scotty

With recent focus on materials, face inserts, face grinds, counter balancing etc. where are you looking for the next round of breakthroughs?

What are you doing to convince the average golfer who is happy to pay $400 or so for a driver (used once on maybe 14 holes in a round at most) that investing this much in a putter is a better investment and a quicker way to a handicap cut?

One for Mr Cameron.

It's one of the most recognisable golfing icons, so where did the idea for the three red dots come from?

One for the Voke. I know you have spent a number of years researching the movement of the CG position which now features in the SM6 wedges. But is this more for the Tour guys what real difference could an average handicapper expect to see as a result of this?

Couple for Scotty Cameron.

I've heard that the grips are modelled on an Axe handle as it's nice to hold, but for each one of these design revolutions how many are tried but then discarded?

Also. Where next? In 5 or 10 years time, where does he think the putter designs will be going? Even larger heads / weightier clubs or more exotic materials?

One + extension for BV...

Are the Forged versions going to stay 'Japan Only'.

Was the logic simply because of the higher esteem given to Forged clubs in Japan (so purely a marketing 'requirement')? Is it purely a different 'feel' (so purely player/market preference) or is the design actually different too?

I wonder how many entries there would have been if that sentence had ended with "...and we are looking for one forummer to join us on this trip"?

Two for Titleist in general, with the advances in technology are they reaching the point were a 2 yr cycle for clubs is unsustainable or are they already looking at a 919?

Are they worried about the continual call to alter ball technology to limit the distances off the Tee for Pros?

A couple of questions,

One for Bob, with wedges and feel being so subjective why do you feel that staying with cast heads versus forged heads is beneficial compared to other manufacturers that have decided to try the forged route?

One for Scotty, what innovations in competitors putters do you wish you had figured out and implemented in your own designs?

For Mr Cameron.....how important is it for the average club golfer to find a putter that matches their stroke type? Or is liking the feel and aesthetics more important?

Cheers

One for scotty, With counter balanced putters becoming more popular these days, does the super stroke grip that you can buy with the weight in, create issues for those trying it out or should they just get a manufactured counterbalanced putter?
