Getting wed at the end of October across in the west in Tignabruich but afterwards we are not planning on going away for a week/fortnight but we are planning on a couple of nights somewhere in Scotland.

I am looking for ideas of places to go for a 2/3 night break that is at least 4 star and has leisure facilities and good food.

Any ideas folks?

Toying with Auchrannie on Arran, has anyone got any experience of it? Gleneagles would be an option but may be a tad pricey,I wonder if they do any deals?:D

Auchrannie is good.
Lochgreen House at Troon may be another to consider as well as the more obvious Turnberry.
The hotel on the course at North Berwick is nearer to home.
Something off the wall, The Coreswell Lighthouse in Galloway
Crieff Hydro...the poor mans Gleneagles is very good.
If I were you I would just stay put at The Kames Hotel. No spa or fancy bits but what a beautiful place to stay. Food was good to.

PS Greywalls Hotel at Gullane.

Congratulations BTW

Some good shouts there Doon.

Won't be Crieff, spend plenty time there as it is.Would like to depart from Kames as staying another couple of nights would turn the stay into a 4/5 nighter which is too long for our liking.

Turnberry may be an option if not Arran.

A long while ago I was staying in Tighnabruich and was short of petrol.
I was told that the local garage opened between 2 and 4 on the Sunday.
I asked if they accepted cheques and was told yes so the old lady filled my car up.
I went into her office to write the cheque and asked if she had a stamp [inked business].
'With a name like The Tighnabruich Service Station we would have to' she replied dryly.

Good guess you were staying at Kames!

Was at Gleneagles 2 weeks ago. We did get a free upgrade and they said they always try and upgrade for special occasions. Top class service but pricey! Golf was top class too. Loved what we saw of Scotland

Auchrannies a great hotel stayed there years back.

Check out shiskine on arran. 12 hole course hotel their aswell. Heard nothing but great reviews about it.

Then if you want to go to mainland for a few games their is dundonald. West kilbride and largs golf club nearby all good courses

I took the missus to Auchrannie for a long weekend a couple of years back and it was excellent. If I remember right I got a great deal including the ferry.

Congratulations!

We stayed at auchrannie and can give it another thumbs up. Another great place is Monachyle Mhor at balquidder; great food but but no leisure facilities.

Why not visit the Golf View in Nairn, you can then play your Fav course, i'm sure you will be made more than welcome;)

Congrats on your impending nuptuals.

Cameron House on Loch Lomond is a wonderful place. It has gorgeous scenery, a good selection of restaurants (including Martin Wishart's place) and of course it has The Carrick golf course.
