I'm trying to get my wife to start playing golf any tips and stories about what got you involved? Or guys how did you get the ladies to start playing? Tried bribery but it's a joint bank account so that doesn't really work

Never thought of that but makes sense willing to try anything to get a few golfing holidays
My wife took group lessons. I got her a half set of clubs. We booked a nice week away at the Ashbury with another golfing couple to de-stress and play some golf 8 weeks before our wedding. What does she do? Slips on their ten pin bowling alley and snap broke her wrist and stretched the tendons. She could have just said she didn't fancy playing

I went along to the driving range with HimID really just to wind him up
First time I'd ever picked up a golf club of any sort. Found out I could actually hit the ball with the club and the addiction started shortly after. Started with beginner group lessons in October 2012, we both joined the club in February 2013 and I now get to play more golf than him as I only work part time

Thankfully my missus shows absolutely zero interest in our great game and long may it continue. I see enough of her anyway so why would I want her hacking it round spending four or five hours on the course when I can leisurely go round in peace and quiet in 2 and half.

Hope you can both enjoy your time together in 2014. Problem I have is how far my wife drives the ball and shes not even on th forum.

Thanks Brian, we both took up the game in 2011 as something to do together outdoors (with minimal risk of criminal conviction) and I honestly believe that she has much more of a natural aptitude than me, ie a bit more than none

I know what you mean there. We decided that getting together over the deep freezer might be a a bit of a change! Problem is, we have been banned from Tesco for life

The answer to this is simplicity in itself. Spend all of your time at the course, but tell her that golf is rubbish and she wouldn't be interested. Maybe dab some lipstick on your cheek after a round before returning home reeking of perfume...

My OH plays national league hockey but was a county golfer as a junior

Started my wife before we got married. With the amount of time I spent at the course I thought it was prudent to get her involved so that I could still play as usual. Within three years she had joined the golf club and was playing almost as much as me. It's also great when on holiday, the clubs go with us most times we're on holiday and we can get a game when we want.
She has her golfing friends and I have mine, we both play a lot of golf in a season and it works out pretty well.
Pay no heed to the nae sayers who've posted here, it's a great way of being able to play a sport together and get to see some really great courses into the bargain.
