One for the history buffs!!

Henry Cotton alledgedly presented his 1948 Open championship winning driver made by George Nicholl, to my great uncle William Collins Jnr who took part in the tournament. The club is a Nicholl Maestro driver. My grandfather left the golf club to me when he passed away in the late fifties. It has been confirmed by the St Andrews Golf Company (Ewan Glen) that Henry Cotton was using this type of golf club throughout the 1948 Open. A very valuable piece of Golf history and memerabillia.

Would you risk £12k on something that might not be what it says it is?

Somebody is at it.
Would you give away the driver you had just won The Open with?
Nichol Henry Cotton clubs were very good. I was still selling them when I was an AsPro in 1964.

I'm sure my uncle played in that Championship, he didn't qualify.
I think it was the first championship when the changed the hole cups for the full 3 days.
Before then the had a huge field playing Mon/Tues 36 holes qualifying then Wed/Thur cut for 36 on Friday all playing to the same pin position.

For something worth 12K you would think they would at least get the spelling right.

alledgedly? memerabillia?

I have Henry Cottons clubs, his name is stamped on them, they even say Royale.

I'll take half that for the set- bargain, be quick before I put the price back up

12k wow thats steep even if it was used in a major, didnt Golfbidder sell Woosie's Masters winning driver some years ago, pretty sure it was no way near that sort of money :D
