Played in the midweek medal on Thrusday in what best can have been described as strong winds!! Just seen that my net 72 was enough to win on countback and was hoping may have got me 0.2 off with CSS going upto 73 (par 72) however the returned CSS was 71 lol. Thats right, CSS has been reduced by a shot despite not one person beating their handicap, understand how CSS is calculated but surely this is a flaw!

Absolute nonsense isn't it! I have had a number of good rounds this year and because of CSS, feel I'm playing off about 2 shots more than I would be.

Well done on a great round though

See my Rant of the Month in last Month's mag.
SSS 69, best return nett 69, CSS 68....

That's just wrong.

It also refutes one of the reasons for CSS - that weather affects scores adversely ALL THE TIME!
It plainly doesn't. Our Midweek Stableford was played on a really gusty. blowy day. Fragger had to use his driver to reach a par 3 (175 yards) into the wind.
Quite a few really good scores came in and CSS went down - why?
If people played well on a difficult day they should get a bigger cut shouldn't they? Keeping CSS in line with SSS would mean that. And if you don't play well then you go up.

Simples.

Very strange state of affairs.

All ours appear to reflect the actual returned scores and the conditions fairly well. Had a couple where CSS was up but this was on very difficult days and only a couple of players posted a score under H/C, also had the opposite where CSS has reduced on a perfect day when a couple of holes were being worked on so playing short and everyone was posting significantly lower scores (not literally as I didn't).

Not sure how yours is tracked / calculated - ours is displayed and updated as each player enters their score in the clubhouse onto the computer system.

But the deal is that if enough play to within SSS+2 then CSS will go down.
The entire field could play to SSS+2 and CSS will still go down

That simply can't be right.

And our midweek medal was played in glorious sunshine with no wind at all and CSS went up 2
