Took the dogs out last night, they were both soaked so dried them off and left them in the kitchen while I did a few emails.

Heard Baldrick whining, so let them though, but he was walking very gingerly and not his usual bouncy self, wouldn’t jump up om my sofa, which is where he usually makes a bee line for. He was shaking a bit so Amanda was giving him a pat and a cuddle when she felt what we thought might be a hernia. Phoned the vet who said bring him straight in. by this time it was 11pm so took him up, perked up a bit and the vet thought he may have just injured his back. Gave him some pain killers and booked me to come back on Wednesday evening.

When he got home he just got worse and by this time could hardly walk and would not eat his bedtime biscuit , which is very unusual. Took him up to our room so we could keep an eye om him, but he just slumped on the sofa in there and cried all night. He could not walk down the stairs and had to be carried. Then just slumped in his bed in the kitchen. Again would not eat anything or drink or go outside for a pee.

Rang the vet again and they said bring him straight in, rushed him in for Xrays.

They rang me just as I came out a meeting.

Its not his back, found a tumor on his spleen, which had burst and he was bleeding internally, so going to operate immediately, the vet said if they find any other tumors it will be kinder to put him to sleep.

so if your much loved pet, has something wrong, no matter how trivial it sounds at first get them checked out, Poor Baldrick would have bled to death without us realising

Sorry to hear this mate, thoughts with you & the pooch.
I was devastated when we lost our dog last year.

Well, the op was successful and no other tumors were found. They removed his spleen, so that's him off the drink from now on.

lost a lot of blood, so giving him a blood transfusion today, we may be able to get him tonight.

such a relief

Just been to pick him up, he is so much better, but that's one hell of a scar.... plus how they have shaved him is a bit porn star.

thanks to the guys who've got in touch with support much appreciated, will try and post a photo of him later

great to hear its all worked out well Patrick, wasnt so fortunate with ours earlier in the year so know what youve been through, as for the scar and the pornstar look he'll be fine lol

Great to hear a positive outcome from the strong boy.
Love to him and cuddles and rubs. Good spot and good shout early with the vet.
Off to walk my girl now and will give her an extra rub and walk
