Took the dogs out last night, they were both soaked so dried them off and left them in the kitchen while I did a few emails.
Heard Baldrick whining, so let them though, but he was walking very gingerly and not his usual bouncy self, wouldn’t jump up om my sofa, which is where he usually makes a bee line for. He was shaking a bit so Amanda was giving him a pat and a cuddle when she felt what we thought might be a hernia. Phoned the vet who said bring him straight in. by this time it was 11pm so took him up, perked up a bit and the vet thought he may have just injured his back. Gave him some pain killers and booked me to come back on Wednesday evening.
When he got home he just got worse and by this time could hardly walk and would not eat his bedtime biscuit , which is very unusual. Took him up to our room so we could keep an eye om him, but he just slumped on the sofa in there and cried all night. He could not walk down the stairs and had to be carried. Then just slumped in his bed in the kitchen. Again would not eat anything or drink or go outside for a pee.
Rang the vet again and they said bring him straight in, rushed him in for Xrays.
They rang me just as I came out a meeting.
Its not his back, found a tumor on his spleen, which had burst and he was bleeding internally, so going to operate immediately, the vet said if they find any other tumors it will be kinder to put him to sleep.
so if your much loved pet, has something wrong, no matter how trivial it sounds at first get them checked out, Poor Baldrick would have bled to death without us realising
