So, I went from 12.4 to 12.5 after last Sunday's comp and the extra shot is on SI 13 which happens to be our 1st. So for the first time in a few years it was 5 for 2 instead of 5 for 1 in today's Stableford - bonus!

So if you go up a shot, would you get the extra shot on a hole you feel helps?

Moved to 7.4 today. Si 8 is 438 par 4 with a false front green. Very difficult. pared it today for 2 points. drive, 5 wood, chip putt. hard work.

I've just gone up to 9.5, it means the usual double bogey on 15 now gets me a point

Our SI 8 is our 13th (I think!), a par 5 of about 500 yards.
Frequently par it, sometimes birdie it, have eagled it and rarely bogey it or worse...
A chance for a 4 for 4!!!

Our stroke index 1 was a long par 4, reachable in 2 and generally I'd bogie the hole, playing off 20 it would be 5 net 3 for 3, but now they've added bunkers and made it a par 5, still SI1, so now 5 is part and 4 points. I have on occasion birdied the hole, which now would be eagle, which would be a 3 net 1 for 6 points.

Which is exactly why no-one should get more than one shot a hole

I went up the same 12.4 to .5 last qualifier last season extra shot on 7th 145yard par 3 over a small pond was nice while it lasted 1st qualifier this season 37pts and down to 12.2

Our indexes have just changed, so the next one I get back is a hole that until a month ago I got a shot on anyway.

A near on 400yd par 4, which doglegs the wrong way for me and is nearly always into the wind.

It has been interesting over the last few years as my handicap has come down. Losing shots 1 by 1, some I didn't care about and others I really missed.

Only 0.2 to go and then back to the 13. I get it at the 218 yard 17th which has OB left and if you miss right the green slopes right to left towards the OB and a bunker. Slick contoured green too. I always take four and walk away. At least it'll be with two points in the pocket
