Was over on Islay at the weekend and played at Machrie, I have not played Machrie in 6 years and to be honest the course has improved so much that in my opinion it has gone from a great golf course to a world class golf course. All credit has to go to Simon the greenkeeper for his truely amazing efforts.

Greens were so good I seriously doubt that I will putt on better all year and thats not an exageration!

Never been to Islay, you have just sold it to me Craw - the natural terrain looks sensational - how golf is meant to be and just down the road from the Laphroaig distillery isn't it? Hic!

I especially like the radioactive trainers glowing in the last pic! :)

Wow, they are amazing pictures (excluding the last one which looks like my eldest son's bedroom) and can only promote links golf - if you've never tried links golf then this must wet your appetite for it - got me wanting to pack the car and head for the coast.

Food and staff were excellent. Not a bad word to say about our weekend. Unless you count the rain on Saturday afternoon!

course looks beautiful, sod going in that thick stuff though, if I ever played there my driver would definitely be left out of the bag!

WOW, that course was in good condition. Sitting at work bored on a Monday! That’s really made me feel like a game. Think im going to finish early and blow off some cobwebs.

If you don’t mind me asking how much was it? I have a stag do to arrange in a few months and looking at several different things.

We got a fantastic deal.

£45 per person per night staying in the lodges including dinner bed and breakfast free golf!!!!!

We played the "Spring Challenge" which was £10 entry fee.

Unbeatable value and best golf break I have had in years. If you like Malt Whisky then go go go!!!!

One of my favourite courses after playing it a few times last year. Didn't get such good weather, unfortunately. Sun?

Cracking food in the Hotel, too.
