Olympic golf caddie question...

So the countdown to golf in the Olympics is underway and watching the Masters and reading the Steve Williams threads got thinking about caddies. The most comparable sport I can think of is Rowing where you have four/eight blokes in the boat and the cox shouting at them and steering it. Now the cox gets a medal so I would assume that the same would apply for caddies in golf but then if say Adam Scott and Steve Williams won gold you'd have an Aussie and a Kiwi on the podium...

...so will they make it like tennis when you can have your doubles partner for the professional game but when it comes to the Olympics you go your separate ways and pair up with someone of the same nationality. If they did that though wouldn't that cause problems in terms of the caddy knowing their golfer's game and having a strong relationship...

...or will they IOC say no medals for caddies which, given the rowing example, seems a bit harsh...

Thoughts anyone?

Think you've answered your own question.

The cox steers the boat....ie makes a an actual physical contribution to that boats efforts.

Caddies help the golfer decide what to do but the golfer and the golfer alone actually hits the shots.

No medals for caddies IMO. Or no caddies allowed at all....mix it up.

As player and caddy are a team along with all sorts of coaches I would imagine the players would want there trusted man on the bag and therefore no medal for the caddy.
Can see the likeness to a cox but he does actually participate rather than advise. (not including Stevie of course! )

Simply level everything out.
Employ local Teenagers to pull a trolley, hand over and clean clubs
No advantage of a good caddie - no arguements.
