Not yet.
But another play-off defeat means he's on borrowed time before he earns that moniker.

Good to see him in contention - he's turning into what Harringtion used to be. The habitual runner-up.

But if he matures into anything like Padraig we'll have another winner on our hands.

Keep at it Oli. It'll come and lets hope its a big one!!

Least he's now knows how not to play a play-off, that means he will win the next one, or even better win without having to go into a play-off. :)

what an absurd topic title....did you see the way he got into the play off? Up and down from a really hard position in the bunker at 71st followed by an 2 putt from 60ft at the 72nd which included a 10 ft putt to get into the play off!
Bottler? Hardly, just beaten by the better man,he did nothing wrong his luck wasnt in this time.

Did you not see the question mark?? I am merely asking the question based on the fact that Wilson has a string of 2nd place finishes to his name and the general public might get the impression that he is. The 1st 2 words of the post are " not yet" so I'm not suggesting that he is.

I watched the play off and to be honest I thought Wilson played really well considering he had to play recovery shots after his tee shot.

Wouldn't say he bottled it, more just unlucky. Nice to see a Brit up there with them. Can only be good for the game in this country.

Well done to Sergio, came back nicely, held his nerve and to say he's a bad putter, he did bloody well sinking his winning birdie putt.

I think to be in contention in a Golf Tournament of this standing with the bulk of the worlds best players in the field speaks volumes in itself.

You need that extra bit of luck/good fortune to win at times.

As previously pointed out, Harrington was always the habitual runner up and play off loser, and this season Garcia has had his fair share of play off defeats and runner up spots so now it must be Wilson's turn.

On the good side, I hope Garcia now goes on to finally realise his enormous ability and challenge more consistently in the big tournaments as his still of play is so good to watch.

I think I'm right in assuming it is only his 2nd or 3rd season on tour with full playing rights so to get into contention as often as he does shows that there is a maturing golfer developing. I think he will win next season. I didn't think he did anything wrong and just got beaten on the day by a better man. It wasn't as if he carved a tee shot OB or dunked a shot in the water in the play-off to throw it away

Nah, he didnt bottle it, was just beaten by a better player on the day. Considering the strength of the field it was great to see him up there.

for my mind, he has a big big future, I think that makes 8 2nds.

He is a young man and relatively inexperienced. All this will stand him in good stead for the future.
When he wins one he will go from strength to strength.

I put him only behind Karlsson for consistency in 08.
The future of European golf looks very healthy
