so the black friday deals are upon us. And need a new TV to go in the new house. Has anyone experience of OLED.
Currys and Argos are both selling a LG OLED55B7V 55 Inch Smart OLED for £1699.
Would anyone recommend this TV or perhaps recommend another.
Looking for some feedback really

No.

Unless you have money to burn.

They haven't completely sorted the UHD/4K (not the same I know) broadcast format out yet, and there's no way I'm buying a top end TV until they do. As it will only mean you will need one or two boxes to decode incoming signal etc with all the loss of quality that entails...

Save your money, wait a year or two.

I haven't got one but I do have the 55" LG 4k. Its a huge step up from the 1080p Panasonic we had. I don't feel the difference between the 4k and the OLED justifies the cost.

I'm with the others, i have 4k UHD TV, only TV i get in that spec is premier league and F1 (which of course you pay extra for Sky Q and Sports) nothing terrestrial is that good quality yet. Blu-rays are fantastic on it, as is Netflix or Prime 4k streams. But with the lack of content, i wouldn't bother.

Personally I would buy what you want, and whatever suits your budget. I see Sky seeming to try and dumb down their normal picture output to push you towards a higher spec tv and their higher price subscription offerings, which is why I mainly use Virgin and BBC for the number of HD outpout that looks much better on my Pana 1080p plasma.
If you're thinking about "future proofing" your tv, just look at where 3D output is or has gone.
For greater opinions and information take a ganders at the AVForums, I have always found the wealth of info you can get there is about the best.

My mate who is very tech savvy has researched the market and The LG is top of his list.

Received an excellent review from Which along with a Samsung. He is waiting until Black Friday to see if there is any reduction but by all accounts this is the Tv at present

If you want it, buy it. The technology is not going to stop changing.

In a nutshell:

Display technology and colour reproduction is horrendously complicated. What's "best" depends on personal preferences, what you want to use it for and what your input sources are.
No TV yet exists that can reproduce the full range of colours in the HDR standards. The absolute best you can get is about 70% of the range and that is very good indeed.
DolbyVision will be better than HDR10 when/if it gets popular but right now it's pretty much a fantasy.
There isn't actually much 4K HDR content around to watch yet!
None of the above should put you off buying a nice toy.

If you want brighter whites - get an LCD screen.
If you want blacker blacks - get an OLED screen.

Or think of it like this: Do you generally watch TV with the lights on or in the dark? Lights on - get an LCD. Lights off - get an OLED.

Bit late but...
I have the 55b7 you mention, it replaced an aging pioneer Kuro plasma. The picture is far better than any mainstream to at the moment and the sound isn't too shabby either - you may want a home cinema or sound bar to get really big sound! HD programs look amazing, sd not too bad. There is not a massive amount of Uhd content being broadcast but most people don't sit close enough to their to to notice anyway.
In short oled is a huge improvement over LCD as black is black and colour reproduction is astonishing. I have always found LCD (and led backlit varieties) to have a false picture, looking a bit strange. No such problems here!

Just to "bump" this. Have just sold my Samsung KS7000 LED and gone for the LG 55" OLED C7.
Absolutely stunning picture quality.
Have been watching the footy on BBC1 HD and it's the best picture I have seen on any telly I've owned (and I've owned a few lol!!).
Watched Gladiator on 4K UHD disc the other night, the improvement over the "standard" Blu ray is immense. So much more clarity and detail, picture literally "pops" out of the screen. The first 4K disc that I have watched that has actually "wowed" me.
At the price, the LG 55 B7/C7 has got to be one of the best TV bargains out there.

The C7 is a Curry's exclusive model, exactly the same as the B7 but has a different stand and a much thinner, all black bezel. I preferred that to the B7. Same price. Cushty.

One of the best decisions I made was to return the all singing all dancing TV I bought and get a cheap HD LG.

I just didn’t have the inputs firstly and I found just stepping up from my 7 year old HD tv to a modern one gave a huge gain in picture quality anyway.

In the end you will probably get used to the image and the only way to tell yours is better is to watch something on an older or cheaper TV.

yeah I've often thought that since only a third of us have perfect vision anyway, for the rest of us we're not really getting what we're paying for with the high spec 60" Dooda DTEDL costing x thousand spondoolics

Iv got the ks8500 the curved one but was looking at the oled and the pic was stunning but a fair bit over my price range the pic on mine is superb with the 10 bit panel and HDR on 4k you see a massive difference but as most of my viewing is in HD or kodi apps it wasnt worth the extra £, I would say if you can afford the oled go for it

This is sound advice and sums it up well. The top notch OLEDs (e.g. Sony A1) are fabulous, with stunning blacks and great motion. I couldn't stretch to that (for the screen size I wanted), so bought a very tidy LCD screen, the Sony KD65ZD9 at a big discount. The whites are amazing and with the latest firmware update, it does Dolby Vision. When fed the right content, picture is stunning but motion isn't as good as the OLED. Netflix and Amazon are beefing up their 4k and 4k HDR content.

I was tempted to go for OLED when I bought my KS7000 two years ago, but they were a tad more expensive at the time and I was pushing my luck with the Missus anyway, so thought discretion was the better part of valor lol! Was also put off by horror stories of image retention and burn in, so steered clear.
Now that things have calmed down a bit, and technology has moved on, I decided to bite the bullet.
Got to be honest.... I loved my KS7000. Great TV. A couple of days before the swap over, I was watching it and was having doubts. Could anything really better it? A week in, and I've no doubts at all.
The good thing about the 2017 range of LG OLED's is that all of the models in the range, from the entry level B7 up to the top of the range one use exactly the same screen and chipsets, so the picture quality is identical on all of them...all of the reviews on the B7 say you would be stupid to buy a higher model in the range.
On the new 2018 range, the entry level C series have a slightly inferior chipset to the rest of the range, so differences may be evident. That's not to say the new C model is bad, far from it. But it's twice the price of the B7!!!

This is a thread 'bump' that could be getting me into serious trouble...
Have been taking a peek at the Richer Sounds web-site and got caught doing so...
Can see me moving to OLED quite soonly…
Was always impressed with the Panasonic ones we had at work...
But were way too expensive for my pocket...

LG B7 down to £1,299.00 now.
That is a seriously cheap OLED telly.
