Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Liverpool's title challenge

It has to be one of the most stupid questions asked. He is the manager of Cardiff just been beaten 6-3 by Liverpool. Then more important than that he played for Man utd, if there is one team they will not follow or care for its Liverpool. But I have to admit it was a classic reply.

Phil Thompson's face......priceless:D

It wouldn't surprise me to see Solskjaer at United in 2 or 3 years if he proves himself a bit more.

So you don't expect Moyes to be there in 2-3 years?

Who can say? I hope he will still be there because he needs time to rebuild but you know how it goes if the results don't go well.

Mucho pressure from the board, shareholders, sponsors and supporters, may see him ousted before he's really had a chance to make his mark. Especially if Solskjaer manages to do very well in the same period.

Expected reply from an ex Manc.

Good to see them thumped and hopefully go down ( for their treatment of Malky )

Yeah right cos Malky did such a great job didn't he!

With the budget available to him I could have got Cardiff promoted. What I would not have done is to have signed some of the players he did last summer.

Malky Mackay the myth.

No one deserves to be treated the way that loon Tan treated him - trying to publicly undermine him and embarrass him.

Demanding he resign or be fired ! Pathetic.

Cardiff getting into the Prem was a great achievement regardless of budgets etc

Vincent Tan might say that he did not deserve to have his money wasted in the way that Mackay and his associates did and then be told that he didn't know what he was talking about; just keep signing the cheques.

And I stand by what I said regarding promotion on the budget he had compared with other clubs in that league.

So of it's all about the budget then QPR should be miles ahead in the Championship

It's more than having a big budget.

Cardiff had tried for years with Jones constantly falling short - then Mackey managed it in his second season as their manager.

And what does their owner know about football - the owners etc are their to sign the cheques and leave the football up to the manager etc.

Looking very likely that replacing the manager is going to end up with them getting relegated - great work from him .

I agree that with the budget available he should have got them promoted. But look at the job Harry is doing at QPR,the most over rated manager in the game. Apparently QPR's wage bill is higher than Borussia Dortmunds.

Edit-looks like LP beat me to it :o

What a chap. OLEgend.
Such a stupid pointless question to ask though.

Not sure it's pointless when it's the opposition you have just faced and possibly would be able to give an assessment of Liverpool's chances after seeing them up close approx 20 mins earlier

I think the Owners are obliged to set the Budget too! and Managers to work within that - though if they don't, that's because the Owner didn't have the proper controls in place!

Too many 'I'm never wrong' egos involved in an industry where things occasionally just 'don't work out' imo. For all the great buys of 'great' Managers there are plenty of not so great ones as well!

As for OGS's reaction. I bet he was looking for an opportunity to exit asap! and the perfect one was handed to him - excellent response!

Oh yeh sorry, forgot he was going to give an in depth review and assessment regarding Liverpools title chances after his team had just lost 6-3 to them after being ahead twice. Perfect time to do so...

When did anyone suggest anything about any in depth review or assessment.

I can understand his reaction but you can certainly see why the question was asked.

He isn't the first and won't be the last to get asked about his opposition on the day

Couldn't agree more. Mackay was treated apallingly, whether or not he was doing a good job.
Any owner should at least treat his own staff with a degree of respect ..................... minimum requirement in my opinion.

Yes the owner or DoF should set a budget that the manager sticks too so when the manager goes past that someone is signing the cheques - owner ?

I'm not sure about the too many "never wrong" egos in football management - I can see one very high profile manager like that but not that many others.

Signing players is always a risk - regardless of the player and team , even the top managers have made signings that haven't worked out and cost millions
