In the r11 thread we got a bit off topic so i thought id start a new one. As a kid i always played with TM stuff, and after checking fundy's link it seems in my garage is a nice TaylorMade Tour Preferred driver which comes from the mid 80's, 1986 to be precise. for a giggle its going to the range tomorrow night, i want to compare how its come on in technology,

94/95? Another, the callaway big bertha h2s2 in 8*... this thing was a beast, but with a mid round hang over fueled hissy fit, the shaft seems to have gained a few splits at the bottom.

I also still have the supersteel burner bubble which is about 95/96/97 era, i dont hold much hope for this as i purchased the offset model, which i could never hit.

im sure also in the naughty room is a cally 416 hot face non conforming driver which is only about 6 months old.....

what hidden gems are you still storing.

As mentioned on the other thread, Im quite sad I dont own any of my old clubs (though will be checking that Dad hasnt hoarded them!)

Seems we went a similar path of persimmon to the now tiny TM Burners to the Callaway Bertha range. Would love to get hold of my first TM driver, must have been about 150cc with 7 degrees loft lol - not sure my current swing would get it in the air

that 12* thing was great off the deck when winter rules was in place, our 4th off the winter tee's was about 475 par 5, 2 of them babies and i was on the dance floor ready to 3 putt ;)

Still using my Ping Eye 2 irons, which, although bought new in 1991, were originally launched in the ealry 80s. Never seen any need to change them!

Only replaced my Ping My Day putter earlier this year... still a great putter on quicker greens.

I traded in my Big Bertha warbird driver about 7 years ago... wish I'd kept it now for old time's sake as i'm sure I got nowt for it :(

In my parents garage (I hope) are...

A 10.5* TM Burner Driver with flex-twist shaft.

My first woods: given to me by a mate of my Dad's... Ryder Heel and Toe persimmon 3 and 5 wood.

Howson (before they became Hippo) 3 wood... no idea what the model is called but it's an early metal wood. Head the size of a 10p piece.

A set of graphite shafted Slazenger XTC clubs circa '92, which my 11 year old has been using to great effect this season - he stared at 54 in May and is down to 34 now. He's just graduated to my Cobra FP's that I gave up when I moved to old man Ping this season. I have an old Callaway Big Bertha driver and 3 wood similar to the Warbird posted above. Ping Anser, and Craz-ee putters.

I was given the Callaway's and never played with them, might be fun to take them down the range and compare against my G15 woods.......

Got a couple of Cleveland Hi Bore XLS woods (11 degree draw bia driver and 3 & 5 woods), a TM burner Hybrid, a couple of putters (odyssey dualforce 554, TM Rossa, my mis-firing Ping Anser 2) and my TM Tour Preferred irons the R11's have replaced. I was asked (told) by HID to have a clear out earlier in the year

I still have a Callaway GBB 3W, Taylor Made Bubble Burner 5W, and I even have my father in laws original Taylor Made Burner 2W (may have to get it out for Princes on Saturday) :D

The oldest golf item I have kept is a my Lynx parralax bladed putter. Just can't part with it (or putt with it come to that).

I have a set of MacGregor 1025m blades, which I really should put in a skip.

I have a Mizuno T3 Driver, 3w, 5w.

And that's about it.

I tend to bin or sell old gear to keep the place tidy.

I've not been playing long enough to have some vintage models stored away and being from the Ebay generation I doubt I ever will. One set in one set out and all that !

I tend to bin or sell old gear to keep the place tidy.

Same as that (almost) although I have a couple of wedges, a 2 iron and a driver knocking about. Normally if I buy new irons I get shot of the old ones to take the temptation of switching back to the away.

I get rid of old gear straightaway, that way I commit to the new rather than flip flopping back and forth after good/bad rounds.

I take the Hobbit approach also, my brother in law gets all my cast off gear he has a few bits of non conforming kit but does not play competitive golf so no problem.

16 year old Nickent bb plus hyper steel still sat in my bag, I just haven't found a better wood yet for getting the ball into the air and fast. Could well be getting relegated come Monday.

I've just bought a 1, 3 & 5 Titleist Persimmon woods, in mint condition which I think date back from about 25 years ago. Paid the princely sum of £1.08 on ebay for the 3!

I've got them regripped and I've taken them out on the course - the 3 & 5 are brilliant, in fact the 5 still travels as far as my new all singing, all dancing Razr Hawk! (although mishits are VERY impressive ;) )

Persimmon driver, 3 wood and 5 wood. When I took up the game again four years ago, I used them for the first year. Whipping came off the driver, and got a lot of stick from the Pro when I took it into be repaired. The driver had lasted me over 30 years, and since then I have had three new ones in four years, and still miss most fairways.

Still got my old Ping Anser putter from the mid 70's, and it gets the odd outing when the greens are very slow.

i have a matched set of ryder graduate persimmon woods( mint condition, had them refurbished to hang in my study but never did) a set of 1980's titleist dtr irons at least 6 putters ( 2 ping zing and a answer and a couple of copies )but i still play with my i3 blades but i have at least 5 bags some dating back to the 70's all in mint condition just cant bear the thought of getting rid i also have a dozen dunlop 65's still in the wrappers and original box and the proper size NOT the one the yanks made us change too.

My TaylorMade TPA putter is 20 years old - but I've had it refurbished.

I also have a 1990 TaylorMade Raylor with a dynamic gold shaft. I give it hit every-so often - it's great. As the OP, I remember the days when TaylorMade Burner drivers were considered head-and-shoulders above the rest. Great days.
