Scooting up to Nairn at the weekend to see the old man and while I'm up I'm planning to play Old Moray. Anyone played it? Comments?

Played it in a Moray & Nairn Junior League match when I was about 16 but can't remember anything about it. Planning it as potential course to play for an annual trip I organise with some mates, all varying handicaps. Seem to remember it was quite a challenge.

Just seen some hole names on the website. "Heather" "Sea" "Ditch" "Road" & "Long" That's a bit of a worry! Maybe invest in a few more sleeves of balls

Never played but having driven past a few times I would take earplugs for the dozens of low flying Tornadoes zooming low overhead out of the adjacent RAF base.

Already taking the earplugs, birdieman......the girlfriend is planning caddying for me! Only joking. She's a star. But it does give her a chance to try out the new Glenmuir rain jacket GM sent me as a prize. It was too big for me but it fits her better (she's a tall girl)

Maybe you can get a medium this time, I see you're name on the winners list again...jammy git!

Awesome layout and so many tough 400 yard + par 4's, especially if/when the wind gets up.

Dont disregard the new course as well its decent too.

Well, I played the course at the weekend and am so glad I did. It's a beaut.

Couldn't remember anything about the course from my only previous visit but it's a cracking, traditional links layout (Old Tom Morris design) so no trick holes. Par 70 from the yellows with only one par 5 and three par 3's.

Lots of heather, gorse, riveted bunkers and cracking, true, undulating greens. Some lovely views over the Moray Firth. Highly recommend it.

Fortunately, the fighter jets from the adjoining RAF base don't fly at weekends, apparently. I guess they must be busy at the moment!

Was a bit nippy but calmish (snow predicted that night) but was lucky enough to be asked to join 3 chaps on the 1st tee. One turned out to be a former Captain. All great company and very, very friendly. Boy, did they play quickly ! (Probably in an effort to get round before dark) Made me feel like a slow coach and I had 20 years on them. No nonsense golf.

It always helps when you play well to remember a course fondly, I think. I ended up with a 76 after being 1 under after 10. Will definitely be playing there again with my friends in the summer.

Treat yourselves to a visit if you're in the area, guys. You won't be disappointed.
