90 years old last February and he comes in as winner with 42 points yesterday (par 72, CSS 71). A 2.0 cut and a lesson in the art of golf. None of your 279 yard drives and 170 yard 7 irons, just shots down the middle and not in trouble, plus immaculate chipping and putting.
Have the Young Whippersnappers got anything to say?
Might think of bringing him to Woodhall next year - he'll be 91 then.

i turned 26 yesterday, played in a stableford comp with a chap called billy turned 71 last week!

30yard chip in for birdie, 20ft putt cpl of 10-15ft putts think he only missed 1 putt under 10ft think he scored 36points lol was a bit wayward somtimes, but jeez i loved playing with him some of the touch he displayed was fantastic!

im more excited to know if im to get to that age i can still be playing golf!

Played a match earlier in the year against a 73 year old who the previous week had broken his age (shot 72)

Just a pleasure to play with and can only dream to still be playing in my 70s, let alone to that standard

Just to clarify.
Although it says old man, I didn't mean he's my dad - I don't use old man in that sense.
Besides - he's not old enough to be my dad - just!

Played with a lot of guys like that. Jim the guy I played with at St Pierre and who one the 17+ handicap section wasn't long but despite the course being 7000 off the whites he knocked it straight, put his second down the middle and was always close to the green or with a simple approach. He had a simple short game and putting style and never got into any trouble. 36 points round there was excellent - best score of the day and a real contender for the final.

I see it at my club a lot. The same thing. Straight and with a brilliant short game. Slow and steady can win the race

Used to play with a couple of guys at my old place, mid seventies, still carried their bags. Hit it straight, great short games. Simple really
