Old Ford Manor GC

Played it a few times.

Several of us refer to it as 'Old Farts Manor'!

Didn't use to be visitor friendly - the land is owned by Barnet Council, so they are required to allow Barnet residents (and also other visitors) on 'Public Days'. That's when all the messy/noisy course maintenance happens in my experience. Visitors changing rooms is an old shed and I've never been into the bar area - prefering the atmosphere across the road at The Shire.

Course is very pleasant - Regional Open Qualifier - with some reasonable, if unspectacular holes. I wouldn't have picked this as a Harry Colt design! A bit scruffy compared with some others. Good finishing holes though. Greens can be made super quick and rough can be grown very severe if desired. Short Par 3 9th green can be made impossible! Think St Georges Hill 11th with greens running at 12-13! Greenkeeper has been described as a genius by a Pro I know.

Others in the close area worth considering are Hadley Wood (apparently - not played it) and The Shire (best fun). But I presume you are looking at their Open.

PS. It's Old Fold, not Old Ford. Predictive text?

Use to play it every year in a society and really enjoyed it, best played after a regional open qualifier as course set up is great. Possibly 4 of the toughest stretch of finishing holes in the region....especially the closing par 4 over water.
Always received a friendly welcome.

As stated by others, it's a pleasant track but nothing spectacular. Greens are generally better than average. It's directly across the road from The Shire which isn't everyone's cup of tea but I think is a more varied and interesting course due to it having 6 holes of each par.
