Had a couple of constructive hours on the range last night. If anyone didnt know, I have been suffering rather badly with the shanks with any half shot and especially 100% hozzle strike rate with the sandwedge.
Managed a chip in over a bunker today and as well as not shanking a single ball, shot 75 (par 71) today (net 66, 41 points).
2 double bogeys of crapness (1st and 16th) but other than that very happy that good old HMS Shanky seems to be turning round and doing one into the distance.
Confidence is still tender but certainly not as bad as it was this past month. Roll on Castle Stuart now as to be honest was s, I was sh, I was shi, I was pooing myself over the prospect of being laughed off at Spey, Castle Stuart and Nairn.

Anyone else play well against the odds? C'mon in, its a love fest!

Played the medal wednesday and shot 83 nett 73 with bruised ribs. Expecting a .1 increase until Howdidido told me I'd come 2nd, CSS had gone up by 2 so I made the buffer and didn't go up. Went out again friday, ribs no better, and shot 75 including a birdie on the last.

Glad the shermans have gone home Brendy - business as usual.

Basically it looks like I was swing roud too much. I was told to lift the club and imagine starting with my shoulders and on the half swing the butt of the grip should be pointing towards the area between my feet and the ball.
Its kind of hard to explain but in a nutshell I needed to be taking the club away steeper and it would all come together through the ball cleaner, and it did.
The first chip I hit that recently would have had my mates diving for cover was on the 5th, I missed the approach shot to the green left (over compensating??) and had a bunker to chip over, stood up, committed and hit it, one bounce and straight in.

2nd qualifier of the year for me today. I hit more thinned shots today than I ever remember hitting in one round but somehow just made buffer

Also completely carp from under 60 yards. Had 2 of them and fatted both short.

I know it will get better but I wish it would hurry up!

Great news that you've conquered them (at least for now). I understand what you mean about shaky confidence because it does still nag away in the back of your mind. Try and relanx and do what you did today as it seems to be working. You're clearly striking the ball great so I'm sure things will get better and better

I'll certainly be hitting the practice area a little more often, I think playing once a week wasnt good enough and a bad habit had crept in.
Practice practice practice is what they say isnt it?

Glad you sorted them out brendy. I went through a stage a few years ago and have never felt so bad on a golf course. It's an awful awful feeling isn't it?

Sounds like you have got over it though and you're in good shape.

I played my 1st inter-club match yesterday. I was a little nervous before hand which was made worse when I found out I was out 1st paired with our club captain :) Started off double bogey, bogey, bogey, treble bogey, bogey, bogey, bogey, which was nice :) Managed to find a drive on the 8th and hit a great wedge to 10 feet a rolled in the birdie which settled me down and played the last 11 holes in 3 over despite a double on 14 after driving OB. We won the match 3&1 with my 3rd birdie on the 17th.
