Being new to golf, I saw a bargain ex demo S9-1 3 wood yesterday, hit it & got some good results, my only concern before buying it was that its offset, as I have no hook / slice problems & hit pretty straight & was just wondering if by using it can it cause any problems in my ball striking in the future, the AG sales assistant said it would be perfect, but I just thought id go for a second opinion on here.

Thanks

Offset features more on game improvement clubs as it's supposed to help lessen a slice by giving the player fractionally longer to get the clubface square at impact.

If you don't slice and hit a decent ball you don't need offset clubs imo.

Yep.

If the O.P. never slices, he's a lucky boy.... :)

I like a little offset in my fairways/rescue, it's too much in the irons that freaks me out.....

I think if you have a fairly consistant swing which it sounds like you do then I'd persist with a more traditional shape. I'm guessing the AG salesman was telling you what he thought you needed to hear to make a sale. If in doubt have a chat with your club pro

its not all good :) I dont hit it far enough to have it hook/slice, im not long & im abit of a topper harley, which still goes straight but just along the floor lol

Either way, good luck to you and with your set building.
I think with any choice of club you've either got to hit it on a range or test it on a LM.
If you try an offset wood/rescue and hit 1/2 of them shocking....if the other 1/2 are half decent, you'll know where you are.
I was depressed about my Callaway rescue so went to try a Wilson Fybrid (offset) on a launch monitor. My "theory" about getting on better with a little offset proved correct....only some of the balls I hit with the Callaway went straight, almost every one with the Wilson was spot on. So much so the guy didn't believe my h'cap.....he thought if I could stand there and not miss the "virtual fairway" of the launch monitor, I ought to be better with my irons.
Sadly not.... :)
