In a rival mag's Open supplement Lydd was down as one of the courses to play in the area if you were visiting for the Open.

"Lovely Lydd" I think was the start of the piece!

Is it really as bad as it's made out on here...??

If you want a soulless club house that stops serving hot food after 3.00 on a Saturday, a pretty flat and desolate course (back nine was under major reconstruction when we were there), a locker room in dire need of a lick of paint and to be honest hardly a memorable hole to talk about after then no it isn't that bad. You have to ask why they keep offering such deals to try and get punters in. It is definitely not in my "to play" list in that area

I think that Smiffy is making it sound better than it really is!

The answer to the quiz ... I said sorry I couldn't play as I have to work Saturday morning and when told that tee off was 2pm I cried off due to the fact that my arthritic hip would still be too painful to play on Sunday morning in our Club competition. luckily the guy that asked was one of my two partners on Sunday and he knows how much I am struggling at the moment as it takes two days between rounds to recover.

All that is true but it is also code for I wouldn't play there if I was picked up in a gold limosine and had Elle Macphearson caddying for me stark bollo*k naked !

Wow it must really be that bad   :D

No Richard, it's worse, but with the libel laws in this country I'm trying to err on the side of caution!

I've just checked the website to see what all the fuss is about, it really does look like one sh1te course.
The halfway house takes some beating. Looks like something picked up from the gardening dept' at B&Q

To be fair, the owner is trying to sell the land to the local airport as they want to make Lydd airport international and they need extra land for the parking, etc.

As a result, it's never going to be a golfing great.

The real question here is.............

Is Lydd better or worse than Boars Head PGA?

Cue Smiffy's seagulls at 4.05 tomorrow morning. :D :D

They were a bit late waking up this morning Rog.
And it's "PGA Boars Head" if you don't mind...   ;)

Yes, Lydd is worse than PGA Boars Head. Not by much I'll grant you. The one big advantage that Lydd has over BH is that you can get a nice full English breakfast there. At my place you can get a cup of hot chocolate and a mars bar...

I joined Boars Head for £30.00 and pay £15.00 every time I want to play, which isn't often.

Membership of Lydd is £680.00 a year and you don't have the choice.
