It's the good lady's 60th today and as part of the array of gifts I have bought her i got 2 tickets for the Nutcracker at the Royal Opera House. I am firmly in the "why do they always dance on tip toes, couldn't they get taller girls" mentality!

Do I go with her or suggest that she goes with someone who will not sleep, eat popcorn, yawn and fart all the way through it?

What do you think?

I'd suggest she takes a friend, just be careful how you word it,they're a strange breed & the smallest thing can make them angry.

I suggest you stand in front of a mirror, and say the following in a deep, gruff gravelly voice, "I am a man" repeatedly. Then buy her tickets for a rugby match at Twickers.

Alternatively, take her to the ballet. And tomorrow sign up for pairs flower arranging or crochet.

Of course you should go with her.
Show a bit of interest, make it a night to remember and for gods sake don't fall asleep.
This.

Plus the music is fabulous.

If you are going to go to 1 Ballet, this is the one! Opera on the other hand....

Would asking her be appropriate?

Agreed you will love it, it is an experience not to be missed. Broaden your horizons culture is nothing to be frightened of.

Er....well basically it involves a bucket of popcorn with a hole in the bottom. a dark auditorium of some kind eg the ballet and a woman, preferably with warm hands who likes popcorn. The rest is pure imagination ;) sure you can work out the rest.
