Off the grid garage lighting?!

As above really, rented a garage off the council to store a car,
i want to rig up some form of lighting.

im thinking solar charger - leisure battery- 12v spot lights

anyone done anything similar?

A bit more info perhaps. Do you just need light so you can look for things in the dark, or do you require better lighting so you can work in the garage?
I would certainly look at low voltage LEDs or similar which you could run off a car battery. Try looking in a caravan accessory shop.

12 V spots will run batteries down in no time. I used to use it as a way of fully discharging my buggy batteries before recharging them.

The lights that are used in caravans (they come as portable units, 2 times fluorescent strip lights) should give ample lighting and the battery will last a decent time.
