For those that aren't familiar with it, here's what Odyssey say:

Of late, I've been having doubts about my Scotty Cameron Del Mar, all completely in my head, but decided to visit the range to have a look at putters.

While there, one of the pro's mentioned the above from Odyssey as a starting point for a fitting.

It's basically a putting mirror on the floor with 4 lines and an image of a ball overlayed on top. You address the ball, with a putter, as you would on the putting green. Here's an image of the mirror:

Which ever line your eyes are closest to relates on their dash system to which kind of putter you need, from face balanced through to advanced toe hang.

My eyes, lined up on the lowest line meaning I need an advanced toe hang (4 dashes). The pro then selected a number of Odyssey putters, and a few from other manufacturers that suited that toe hang and we went to the putting green.

These are putters that suit how I fall into the Eye-Fit system

Exactly the same as my Del Mar

When the Pro (Simon) asked what putter I currently used, he was quite honest and said, stick with that. He checked my length was also correct. He said I could do with around half an inch added to the shaft length, other wise I was in good order.

Peace of mind and pennies saved.

Has any one else used Odyssey's Eye-Fit system? What were your thoughts on it?

Does that mean that effectively if you stand further away from the ball you have a more curved stroke, therefore use a more toe weighted putter. Then as you move closer to the ball you have less arch in the stroke, moving all the way up to a straight back & through, needing a face balanced putter?

I would guess so Gil. I couldn't tell for sure as this is the first time I've seen it.

What you say does make sense though.

We had an Odyssey demo day at my club last year and they were using this. Can't remember what I was - think it was #3 or how it hung together in terms of needing a back and through or arc based putter. Got an Tank #1 - never got on with though

a bit gimmicky and should be used as a starting guide only.

Theres Gareth not that happy with his CF Del mar (again):mmm:, steps up to the machine and it 'recommends' a Del Mar (type).

just choose what you like the look of and suits your eye then practice with it till it does what you tell it to do:cool:

I used it in buying new putter last summer. Decided to retire the old (20 yrs?) Ping B60 as it just isn't responsive enough with new golf balls.

Had set my mind on going back to a traditional simple blade putter but using the guide along with how I stand, hold and position my self it pointed me at the Versa #1.

Have to say so far happy enough - bit like the Anser bronze I had before the B60. Don't really fuss to much with putter as its stroke not tool in my mind that is key.

Tried it at APGC and it showed I need a face balanced putter - which is exactly what I've been using for 20 years...
The Ping App came to the same conclusion.

It's a bit like Lizzy's Shaft DNA gizmo - a good place to start.
