Anybody else done this? Basically Odeon charge you a fiver for any seat in the screen they are doing it in, and you get to see an as-yet unreleased feature film; you just don't know which one until it starts rolling!

Here's what they say about it;

Screen Unseen films are not your typical Hollywood fare. These are films that are edgy, intriguing, controversial and thought-provoking. To make things even more enticing, you won't know what film you'll be watching until the curtain goes up for the show. How's that for tantalising?

That's right, we're asking you to trust our judgement and buy your ticket 'blind'. But rest assured, at ODEON we've been entertaining the nation for over 80 years, so we know what we're doing when it comes to film.

Just off for the first time, fingers crossed, hoping "Selma" might just fit that description…….

or it could be an award winning cartoon from Poland:(

Never heard of this screen unseen but I like the idea, look forward to your 'review'

I have always done screen unseen.

I can't remember ever seeing a whole film, at the cinema or on tv, that I haven't slept through most of

They advertised it at another film we went to see and the previous two that they had done were "Nightcrawler" & "Whiplash" so we weren't too worried on that front.

Let us know if you get back alive, something sounds sinister about it :eek:

Nothing sinister, back in one piece. :thup:

And I got lucky, it was "Selma". Extremely powerful, very well acted, 2 hours flew by. I thoroughly enjoyed "The Theory of Everything" and thought that was excellent, particularly Eddy Redmayne's performance, but I thought "Selma" was better. If anyone is thinking of giving Screen Unseen a try, the most relevant piece of advice is get there for the published time; usually there is about 20 - 25 minutes of trailers but not for this, consequently quite a few came in after the film was rolling. Tangibly different atmosphere in there as well, a sense of anticipation prior to the start and a few noises of approval as the title came up (and a few groans).

Now if only they'd introduce popcorn-free shows…….. :angry:
