Just a little bit of fun, as I got thinking about how long i've played this wretched game.......

A) What percentage of your life have you been playing golf seriously?

B) What percentage change in handicap since you started playing?

Me: A 56% B 45%

46% and 33%.

Where is this going?

Some people will have played for ages, but have no aptitude, others will have started yesterday, and will be off scratch due to inate natural talent.

Murph, I was just pondering my development across the time I've spent playing the game... I think most will fall into the high handicap beginner and will fall over time, hopefully.

Twire-where do you play?

I play at East Devon GC. This is my second season there (1st full season, I was a member of 2 clubs last year and played all my competition golf there)

Played at Woodbury Park for 11 years.

The average golfer won't ever break 100, apparently, so it doesn't necessarily follow that the longer you play the game, the better you will be. I hope for you that you come down rapidly, but a lot don't. I play a lot in a society, and very few will have broken the ton. Many have played on and off for years.

It is more a question of how much time you have put into practicing and lessons, than how many years have you played for.

Heard E.D is a smashing track, never played it. Woodbury I liked, having said that it was a monsoon the one occasion I played there. I play at Teignmouth.

Murph, many factors could be put in, like I said, just a litle bit of unscientific ponderings.

If you ever fancy a game at E.D. give me a shout.

Problem with Woodbury is it's built on clay, so the drainage is not to good. It's a fantastic course in summer though.

Superb, will definitely do that.

I think that's the same issues that Stover has which is a great shame as that's a stunning layout.

I played great on Woodbury for 17 holes, the 2nd killed me, the drive through the avenue of trees was horrendous.

No wonder I was high! I did current hc(17)as percentage of starting hc (28) - should have been 28-17 / 28

A 2%
B 39%
There - that's better - hate to standout!
