I've got my first comp tomorrow - what is the max number of clubs I can have in my bag? Currently I have 13 clubs and want to make sure I'm not carrying to many. Have 1 driver, putter, 5 wood, 4 rescue then 5 to PW, lob wedge and chipper so 12 clubs.

Also - do I need to make sure I only play one brand of ball if I need to replace a lost ball etc

A lob wedge and a chipper? Never in the history of this forum has one person divided the opinion of so many

Did you actually put your cards in for handicap?:)

Sorry i thought the forum was a place to get advice etc
it is but that was a basic fundermental question that you should have known from day one,how long have you been playing golf and do you not know the basic rules,if not i advise you to learn before entering a comp for your own sake as well as those your playing with.advice given.

Perhaps the words used were a little blunt (god knows its often difficult to convey meaning through the written word) however I agree with the point. Such a fundamental rule should be known before entering competitions. Perhaps clubs should provide a free guide to the rules on joining.

Yes the words used were a little harsh. I think clubs could help with a guide to rules given when you join, but also individuals should look into things them selves. If you play socially your playing partners can help explain rules. If a more experienced player goes out with a newer they could explain rules etc. The forum should also be willing to help we shouldn't make people feel bad for asking questions.

He's asking now, I can't understand some of the responses TBH. It was an innocent question.

Ignore the crappy responses. Some people were apparently born with all the knowledge of the world implanted and never had to learn anything ever.

There is no such thing as a stupid question but proof here there are plenty of stupid answers.

Just to check what type of chipper do you have.

Double sided like this

Or Single like this.

If it is the double then leave it at home as it doesn't conform to the rules.
