I played and won my first round match in the HDID matchplay today, playing the first round of the Nike tomorrow.

How is anyone else progressing?

Lost on the last in the Nike at Northampton County :(

Loving The Northern Matchplay competition. Played 36 hole first round. Finished 4 up at Mossock, then took that to the first hole at West Lancs and won. Then second round beat a smashing bloke from Oldham at Mossock. Got to play a 3 handicap at my place. Wish me luck!

Sadly I lost today in the Nike on the 19th. It was a good close game but my good driving deserted me over the last few holes, and my opponent pulled off some great saves, not least on the 16th when he made 4 from deep in the wood to rescue an unlikely half.

I have to say Heaton Park was in great condition, the only downside was that the greens, although in good nick, were rather slow. Certainly it is a great course for a municipal.

Won my first game in league to Dubai the other week, and won 1st round of NIKE last night 1up.

second round of Nike is at Kington which is the highest 18 hole course in England and links as well so not ideal giving shots away on a course I have never played.

Bad luck. Yes Heaton park is ok, just around the corner from me. If I remember right it's OOB in the woods on both sides of the 16. Quite a few on course OOB at heaton park.

Enjoying the Northern Matchplay. In the third round. Would love to reach the final at Royal Lytham. Got to play a three handicap bloke. Been practicing like crazy.

Haven't entered any this year. I've a shocking record and couldn't be bothered. Hawkeye and I usually play the Nike pairs but as we rarely get beyond round two usually losing like Brazil we didn't bother with that either. To be fair I've a lot of golf in the diary and so trying to fit other matches in was going to be tricky. That and HID Is due for an operation and so I'm on nursing duties for 6-8 weeks

Won my 2nd round of the Nike, but I'm not sure how, I had to give 3 shots away and played like a Muppet.

Halved the 1st, won the 2nd, lost the 3rd and then halved the next 4 holes, won the 8th only to give it straight back on the 9th so all square on the turn

Deja Vu kicked-in as the 10th was all square then I won the 11th, halved the next 2 holes and won the 14th to go 2-up and thought, "here we go, I'll close this out now"! How wrong I was, lost the 15th, 16th & 17th to go 1-down for the first time as we headed up the 18th, which thankfully I won, so it was down the 1st again which I won with a nice par :whoo:

I remember watching a darts match many many years ago where Jocky Wilson was playing someone that was that slow he just couldn't play his own game, this was a lovely guy but he was far too slow for me and I just couldn't get going or keep my focus, it was almost as if he was too nice and I couldn't fire up any 'killer instinct' :D

Any way, job done
