Now where did the (wrong) one come from?

Similar to a similar thread, but this time a wrong one..

Playing off the back tees at the Captains Prize this weekend with Dufferman, all of us hit a cracking drive on the #13 (P4, SI1). I was up first for the second shot. With about 220ys uphill to the green and Dufferman standing in HNSP behind me, I swung my 4hybrid with all my might. Hit an absolute peach of a ball, the ball took off like a rocket - but about 100yds left of target line and OOB.

Dropped another ball, hit the same shot and it went towards the green (before trickling down to one of the greenside bunkers). No change in swing, nada.. and completely different result.. (Dufferman was too kind not to laugh his guts out after the first shot)..

Alignment?

Ball too far forward in your stance (thereby hitting it as you turn through)?

Ball slightly above your feet (small subconscious adjustment)?

The phrase 'feel and real' springs to mind - its amazing what you think your swing feels like to how is looks...a minor change in face angle or swing plane would make all the difference - but would feel the same swing. Its the 3 off the tee syndrome whereby your provisional/new ball always seems to sail down the middle of the fairway....

Think that sums it up. Always swing within yourself and club up if you need to

the 4H is the max i can hit from the turf. Gets me about 180-190y depending on situation. Very consistent and go to club for the 180y range. The green was beyond reach, so tried to murder the 4H to get close.
I have a 3H Cobra baffler - not sure why i have it, cuz i dont use it off the tee nor off the deck. Maybe I should get a new club ;)

Sums up golf perfectly. if you play football and kick the ball to your teammate and the ball goes awry, you know exactly what you have done wrong. But you can hit the two same shots in golf with very different results and if you are like me, have absolutely no idea why the ball went where it did. That is exactly why the game is so frustrating.
