Been struggling with my putting this year, leaving everything shortish without even a chance to drop in the hole.
So, popped down to our Putting green to try and work on things, and get a feel for my new Yes! Marilyn. (Thx Matt)

Our new assistant, standing in the door of the Pro shop looking on), and seeing my putts come up short still, soon pipes up.......

"dont decelerate .....short back, and accellerate through the ball......"
"Really ?" says I.......
"yep....every time......."

So, I give it a try, and sure enough.......much better.

Lots to work on me thinks to make it perfect, but just shows the value of someone who knows what they're looking at, and offers the advice freely, and just to help.

He's now ahead of our Pro in the 'Helpful advice for Members' Order of Merit !!

Chris, I see this alot.
One long backswing for all lencth of putts.
Just be careful you dont make your backswing too short or you'll start jabbing them.
Good luck :D

No problem. Glad it has found a good home hope it saves you some shots over the coming months

Our course pro is a lady and she is not that shy about giving wee tips - the assistant pro (well almost - doing PGA's at the mo) is great - phoned up to book a time with one of my normal bounce gamers - and she had the wit to tell me that he had changed his time, and the new time slot was full.

After the phone call I realised that so many people dont appreciate a good pro.

Mucho impressed!!

I think that's great. It also endears the pro to the members. And guess what. They'll probably get more custom in lessons and goods sold by giving these titbits of advice. Highly commendable of him.

If only more pros were pro-active (no pun intend, but it works in this case!).

I've known a lot of so-so pros but only two that have really stood out for me. One is my current club pro who'll I'll use as much as I can now and one is a guy at a local who'll always stop and help with a 60 second fix for a problem. Both get a lot of repeat business from me and I'll always recommend them over other golf stores/online or other range pros for lessons
