So i've submitted all my cards for a handicap! Gross - 104, 99 and 98. Very mixed bag!

Once the triples, doubles (and above!!!) have been rounded down to doubles, they come out at 23, 23 and 19 over SSS.

Who wants to put a bet on what h'cap I get?

The winner gets my respect. And the potential to be cursed about when I can't play to my handicap in a medal! (It's never my fault)

there should be no doubts (19 it should be) its a fairly straight forward process but there seems a lot of rounding to get to 19. So the handicap sec could remember you bribery in the bar last weekend and opt for 22.
Eliminate those odd high scores and you'll come tumbling down.
Course management take your medicine get back in play and take a bogey.

The round of 19 including a 10 and a 9, both on par 4's, which really didn't help. 2 x lost balls.
I definitely agree that it looks like whatever I get, i'm going to struggle in a medal! Better get working on keeping it a little straighter on one hole especially, for some reason i slice it oob on most rounds!

16 or 18?

You'll get more consistent as you play more. And you've got a shock to come on the 5th the back tee is nasty!!!

Good luck and enjoy.

I really do hope that it's not 16!! Hahah 18 would be nice. Give me a lot of chance to "grow into" my handicap, whilst taking a large amount of +0.1's I imagine!!

I have definitely noticed the consistency increasing, slowly!

Yeh, I've avoided looking at the back tee on that hole, god knows how I will approach it!!

It will almost definitely be 19.

After the way i played this weekend, 19 could definitely be a curse! They were new/tougher courses mind! (how on earth do people play well on links courses?! Loved them though!)

Still waiting for the handicap, just want to find out now, I'm not the most patient!!!

Links golf is an art form, try playing at cleeve cloud in the middle of summer or with a howling gale! And try fathoming out how when you hit it perfect you get a sideways bounce while or oppo duffs it 150 yards along the ground onto the middle of the green! :)

They are indeed! So I've signed up for that, and I believe it should email me when it goes on...

Technically there shouldn't be any debate and it should be 19. Would better all round if they took account of the 2 x 23's and gave you 21, which is roughly where you might expect to drop back to before you start to go lower again.

Not sure how much discretion they are allowed to use but 21 would be a fair summation of your 3 cards IMO.

Well it looks like they can use a bit of discretion. I now have a handicap of 20.0

Very glad it's not 19, but i still think it's much below I will be able to play too in a medal!! Didn't even get over 35 points off 28 at the courses this weekend!

definitely need to get rid of the stupid scores on some holes!

Leave your driver in the car. There is no disgrace in hitting a 3 wood (or less) off the tee to keep your ball in play. You have probably heard this before, "It's not how, it's how many". When I first started to play the longest club in my bag was a 5 wood. It didn't go too far off the tee but it went straight, and all my shots (18) allowed me to get to the greens and make nett pars.

That would be easier if I had a driver! Hahha but i take the message behind it. The 3w off the tee has been a bit temperamental recently. Might stick to the hybrid if it doesn't improve!

Something to protect and focus on every time you start a round/take a risky option. gives good motivation to keep it to 20 I suppose. 5 rounds of buffer leeway before you would go to 21 and 5 chances to repeat your best carded round and get a cut.

remember your handicap represents the best you CAN play, not your average and your certainly not expected to play to it every time That's why there is a buffer. It's still a shot a hole and 2 at the hardest 2

Good luck
