Notts golf club

I'm a sales manager who often travels around the country and I'm trying to tick off as many of the Top 100 as I can this year. I'm in Nottingham next week and may drop into Notts or Sherwood Forest golf club for 18.

Anyone played them already? If so any good and will they be ideal for winter golf?

Both should be good for winter golf.

Notts (Hollinwell) will be the better of the two as it drains incredibly well and last time I played Sherwood in the winter they had mats in play on all short par 4's.

Enjoy either one as they are both excellent.

I've played both, and they are both incredible. Notts is arguably my fav course in the UK.

Only played SF but found it wonderful. A superb golfing experience . I hear that Hollinwell is even a step up on that !!!! Enjoy which ever option you take.

Assuming full course and main greens then yes that is a bargain!!

Choice of the 2, I'd play Sherwood every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Such a better golf course then Hollinwell.

Sorry Sherwood was £37.50. Notts £55, but £30 twilight after 1.45pm

Am sure ave said this before on here, but when i was about 14 I used to caddy at Sherwood every Saturday for a guy who had a false leg. It used to get air trapped in the hinge and he could make it " fart ". Honest. Anyway to a 14 yr old kid in the mid late seventies it was just a golf course. Anyway when tornado Tash went through Sherwood a couple of years ago there members played the rest of Notts courses whilst there course was repaired. The offer of playing Sherwood was returned and me and three others turned up at Sherwood at the back end of March. Every green was a temp except the 18th, about fifty yards in front of the original greens. We were massively underwhelmed. That's an understatement, I was gutted. We had to play off the plastic mats 100 yds in. The four of us were not impressed at all.

Sherwood does a winter deal for under £40 with a breakfast, I've played there the last 2 years and it's always in excellent condition and have never played off mats or on temps!
