but it's a grand afternoon down this way for a game of golf. Meeting up with James this afternoon, I feel proper fit and am taking my new i15 Driver out for another bash.
We're playing at Copthorne, (his course), which is a bit tight in places but I've never felt more confident.
I can just see me nailing my 4 iron into the breeze and floating my scoring irons in on the wind. My putter is all cleaned up and ready, my Chino's have got creases in them you could cut the Sunday joint with and I'm wearing my favourite shirt. James is going to get such a good hiding, he won't know what's hit him.
What could possibly go wrong????????

Haahaha! My first club comp i ever played that describes me!

1st Tee (Massive group waiting) - Stubbed the first one 20 yards tried to cream it! A hook with a 4 irons on to the 2nd tee - Thined it with a wedge miles behind the green and managed to get up and down in 4

Needless to say anti climax!

Yeah but you're a knob MattyBoy.
I'm a proper golfer.
I don't do things like that anymore
;)

I would pay to see someone sharting just as they let rip on the 1st tee!

A guy we were playing with (God why can't I remember names????) at Castle Stuart did this. Not on the first, but the 11th (par 3 where they held the nearest the pin competition).
Just as he was started his downswing he farted.
I think we tittered.
:D :D :D :D :D

I'd summarise by saying Smiffy 'put the mockers on it' :D

I was 1 under on the front 9 and Smiffy was 6 down. He did well to hold on for a 5&4 loss.

Can't win 'em all! ;)

In light of HTL's retirement, I officially announce that Smiffy and JustOne have taken over from Homer and Mrs Hywel and are now the forum's equivalent of Richard and Judy!!!

I did not need that!!
James came out the traps like a whippet and despite a couple of bogies on the front 9, I couldn't live with the birdie barrage (3).
I played reasonable golf, especially on the back 9 (18 points with a blob) and the good thing to come out of it was my i15 Driver was playing superbly. I love it to bits. Hit the longest drive I have ever hit down the first, left me an easy 9 iron in. I should have hit wedge in hindsight 'cos I pushed my 2nd shot a bit where I eased off it. 3 jerked for a bloody bogie. God those greens were slow!
Hit another belter down 2, again the best drive I have ever hit up that hole. Only left me with another 9 iron in, but again I should have used wedge 'cos I flew everything and 4 bloody putted from the just off the back of the green. Not the way to start a match.
Despite the loss I was happy with my game. Some of the best ball striking in months and as I say, the i15 was going really well. This one is a keeper. Well played James, a cracking round. I couldn't stick with you, especially on the front 9 where as he says, he went round 1 under gross and racked up 22 Stableford points. He finished on 36 which is fair enough. But I had to hand over a tenner which hurt. There's always next time....

Mind you. If I really wanted to be pedantic I could have him DQ'd 'cos he had 15 clubs in his bag
     :D

I told you I wasn't going to hit the wedge, and I didn't. I'll probably drop it from my bag altogether now.

You played really well, super birdies on 3 and 10 and the back 9 holes were excellent (18pts). It was good to see that you have found a little bit of 'form' and that you're hitting your i15 nicely. Enjoyed it.

Oooh I forgot I had a birdie on 3. Fantastic hybrid wasn't it???? :D :D :D
I'm getting so good now, I'm forgetting the good holes!

Glad to see our very own Pete and Dud had a nice game and played nicely together with no tantrums. Souns like James had a stonker and Smiffy had more good than bad so it can't be considered a bad day
