We have a bit of an issue with some of our members not raking bunkers at my club.

I play with the same guys on a Sat morning and its also the same guys out in front of us most weekends.

There must have been at least a dozen or so i walked past and one i was in where someone had walked in, stepped over the rake and back out again without raking the bunker at all. this is the case every week. every morning we have a couple of lads that go round a rake the bunkers first thing, so it was def someone playing in front of us.

( I was in a big footprint at the back edge of one that cost me at least two shots yes its a penalty, but without this footprint i could have played towards the green and not back wards into deep rough).

I think its very disrespectful to guys behind est as most would be in comps!

anyone else have this problem?

they need reported as you know who they are, they need told by an official, officially, that they must keep the course in etiquette of a standard expected by all members and guests alike, or face the consequences.

There is no need for these lazy selfish golfers on any course.

I was plugged in a massive footprint yesterday, probably the worst lie I've ever had in a bunker. Managed to get it out but could only hack it 50 foot past the flag.

It's just plain lazy.

Went out at 4pm on Saturday and noticed that many/most of the bunkers I was in or near had footprints in them.

Completely disrespectful! If you know the culprits, sort them out, either yourselves or through the Club hierarchy.

So not just (overseas) visitors that cause problems!

And it shouldn't have needed an incident where you suffered to prompt you to take action!

Not suffered the dreaded footprints in a long while but used to back in Fife (even cycle tyre marks)

Not fun and completely unnecessary (well almost)

If i were to see the culprits i would have a word there and then, but unless you see these guys actually doing it (or not doing it to be precise) what do you do?

Club are going to send a email around this week reminding members about raking etc

I saw a young woman at my local pay n play (cambridge lakes), obviously a non-golfer, raking a bunker after her "attempts" to get out with a hockey stroke.

If she realises the importance of it then shame on any golfer who doesn't! I felt pretty guilty about not raking in the past after seeing that!

If they are not 'Car Park' golfers (or your group is significantly slower than them ), then you approach them and, diplomatically, point it out as a group in the Clubhouse!

This annoys me so much!
Didn't notice before I came a green keeper and my lord so many times I've seen loads of footprints
It's just lazy bone idle people
Boils my blood

Annoying at times, but not worth getting riled up about it unless you cop a bad lie because of it. In which case you would rake the bunker anyway after you finished. By the same token, because it's such a simple task, it's not difficult to smooth it over rather than walking past - but if I did see the culprit then I would be having words with them, if only to highlight their oversight. Same applies to pitch marks, divots and the like - annoying at times perhaps, but no biggie to fix yourself if you practice what you preach.

Quite often have this at our place, but it's only a select few that are guilty of it.

What I find more annoying is a bunker that hasn't been raked properly. Instead of flat sand you get left with dips and mounds reminiscent of the Alps which you can guarantee your ball will fall into.

Our green keepers prefer us not to replace divots but boy do we suffer with foot prints in bunkers. Either that or the deer have started wearing foot joy's. I have caught a few people red handed and still they deny it

Unraked bunkers are usually at ours on a Saturday after the men have been playing in their competition. DRives me mad but the so do the unrepaired pitchmarks some leave. Did chuckle the other week though as in one bunker on the 17th someone had made a rude picture in the sand. Can only assume they had a nightmare trying to get out of it.

Have you actually observed the said golfers in the bunkers and then leaving without raking? If so have a quiet word or ask if they have seen the culprits, as clearly it's not fair on the following groups to play from fot trodden traps.

Walked past a bunker the other day that hadn't been raked, looking at the footprints the guilty party had stepped over the rake to get out of the bunker - I stopped and raked it took me probably 10-15 seconds! Just plain lazy some folk.

Was a member at a de vere course.7 day member and never had an issue. Once they started the points thing that's when it went down hill , bunkers not raked, pitch marks, massive divots not replaced.lots joined from crap local council courses.not an issue with that as long as they start to play it like it's not a council course.

Patrick, i would tell the Captain that EVERY week bunkers are not been raked by one of the games in front of yours . It shouldn't be hard to track them down and warn them. If he's worth his salt as a captain he should sort it out. best of luck.

If I was following a group and it was obvious they weren't raking, I'd be having words long before the 19th. Those playing in front of our usual roll up are all car park golfers and so its on the course or bite your tongue for another week
