Only one more month to go until the season starts! Goodbye Winter greens, taking the ball to the semi rough, shorter course and of course cold rounds!
Hello lighter nights, golf after work (sometimes before), good greens, playing from the fairway, white tee's and T-shirt weather (being hopeful there)!

I've played most weekends during the winter but now is the time to get ready for the season - doesn't get dark until 5:30ish now so I can get 30-40 practice in after work now. Just booked a lesson on the Trackman with my local pro (Dave Fletcher) to see what to work on. I'm off 9 (8.9) and I've goal to get that lower this year and I fully believe I can do - time to put the hard work in!

Does anyone else have any plans to get ready for the season?

Just over 6 weeks till the first comp for us. Played most of the winter too and really looking forward to getting started. Started this week doing some putting in the house of an evening, and plan to do that a couple times a week just to grove a better stroke. Once the nights get longer I will start hitting the practice ground and get some swings in, which will hopefully get rid of the bad ones before the weekend game.

I have been playing during the winter and think my game is in decent shape. Have one more lesson booked until the start of the season where I want to look at controlling the draw I have developed on my shorter irons.

First comp is booked for st patricks day 17th march at Concra Wood in Ireland and I can't wait.

Will have plenty of range sessions and practice during weekends before the start of the season and hopefully be ready to go!

Nice one! I need to get my putting stroke into place as well! I've started going up to the chipping area to start sharping the short game as well. Hoping it'll get better - looking forward to season!

Yeah chipping and pitching need some work too, but not much I can do about that at the moment. I have Dave Pelz's short game bible on its way to me so will give it a read to see if it can help.

Need to get a lesson in before hand but not sure I will be able to, might get a couple comps in then get a lesson to tighten up any issues from the first couple comps. But I have been playing well over the winter hopefully it will transfer over to the season.

very much looking to new season and at a new club too!

Between now and new season i'm playing St Andrews so should break it up nicely!

We've been pretty lucky with the weather this winter so far. Until the last week it's not been massively wet...
Hopefully it remains similar throughout the Spring.

I've been hitting the range quite a bit lately and playing when I can. Got 2 rounds this weekend if the weather is kind which i'm looking forward to!

Aim this season is to at least get to CAT2, it'd be nice to get to 10.

We have full course, no temp greens, no close holes, no moving balls, no mats.

Comps all year round, several a week.

I do kind of wish I could get hyped for season. At least the weather will be a bit warmer soon and evenings long :)

It's about one more month before qualifier start at our course. And I am absolutely pumped and ready to go. I feel like my long game is in better shape than it ever has been, I just need to brush the cobwebs off my putting and my short game and I am ready. I have a full week of practice and playing in Spain coming up in two weeks. And after that it is just another week until daylight saving time kicks in, which gives me the opportunity to get practice or 9-hole rounds in after work again. So yeah ... bring it on

4 weeks until my first qualifier but have an interclub knockout match before then, I play all winter although this last week has been the worst of the winter, the course has been closed since last Wednesday. We will need a couple of weeks of reasonable weather to get it up to scratch I reckon.

So jealous of you right now! Do you play at a links?

Tuesday 28th Feb 2017 - FRONT 9 OPEN / BACK 9 CLOSED - 3 MAINS GREENS

Huh, whadda you think?

Jesus!! I think I'd cry if that was my course during the winter! We normally get all holes open - sometimes the par 3 2nd is closed in which they split one of the par 5s into two holes.
I'm mostly looking forward to telling my playing partners that they can't get a free drop from a plugged lie in the rough! haha Always sends him crackers!

Yeah, chalk based course. The wind is strong almost every round, but I have enjoyed how good the condition of the course is all year round.

It won't be forever as I am planning on moving city soon, but making the most of it while I can.

Had several qualifiers every month of the winter and been no temps despite several weeks of continuous hard frost and then the thaw (crazy decision but no temps cut on 16 holes) but all played off yellow forward tees

You would not believe how massive some of the winning stableford scores have been - CSS 38 on many occasions, third of the field 36 points or more.

I am looking forward to the first medals in March back off the white tees (well I am pretending I am) having managed to buffer occasionally but not play well enough to get a handicap cut all winter.....

Our season starts this weekend. I'm just hoping my good ball striking of recent weeks doesn't abandon me and that I can cobble together some kind of short game. All being well I should be set for buffer at least (although I am aware that by saying that I have just incurred the wrath of the golf gods)

March medal is saturday morning. 8am shotgun start as AGM in the afternoon and were playing in 4 balls.

Expectations are for a 4 1/2 hr slog in boggy conditions and some pretty horrendous lies if off the cut stuff. Fully expecting 0.1 back to go up to 7 :(
