Hi All,

"Loft up" is a Taylormade campaign in conjunction with there new SLDR driver. You cannot just add loft to any driver and get the results that they claim as the SLDR has the weight low and forward rather than low and back.

I am interested if anyone has been, tried it and come away knowing that the weight low and forward is not for them. I believe that the MOI is not as good so the driver is not as forgiving, there is more loft at play so the ball will not be as easy to shape.

My interest is in: Is there another way or is this a TM thing that will go away very soon.

Thanks

The SLDR has taken my drives to a place I didn't think was possible....I swapped to the SLDR from the Nike Covert VRS and gained 20-30 yards of carry pretty much over night.

Last weekend I drove the ball over 270 yards on three separate occasions....to the point that I actually made people on the green in front (on a par 4) look around when my ball pitched (they were 318 yards away).

I was anti TM until I tried the SLDR.....

Ive corrected that for you:)

There's not much else they can do with a driver head except move the weight around inside or have movable weight on the outside.
Size is limited, CoR is limited so they don't have much else to work with.
Some bright spark will come up with another "best" place to have the weighting....wonder what high and back would achieve, or high and forward ( loft down?)

Yep, Totally up with how it all works. The reason drivers of late have been low and back is for launch, moi and forgiveness. The SLDR should not be that forgiving with the weight forward but that may be offset by the added loft.

That is some driving...

I won't be lofting up though, despite TMs claims. My 10.5' goes just how I like it. Oh, and I'm a PING fanboy, so unless they release the new 'G25 SLDR', I'm not interested guv'.

The SLDR is superb if you can hit it out of the middle fairly regularly. When I do I can see the yardage difference by more than other drivers.

I wouldn't say its unforgiving though. If you don't hit the middle it still goes a fair distance.

I lofted across too as I went from 12 to 12 :D

Ive not tried the SLR but ive recently gone from a 11.5 Nike VRS to a Cobra amp cell and get best results at 9.5 degrees. I do have a slow swing speed but id say the Amp has given me around 10/15 yds more carry and hopefully better roll out with the ground firming up.

I liked the idea of lofting up- loft is your friend - however what happened was exactly what I expected, lofted up to 10.5* and the ball launched way to high, brought it back to 9.5* and better but still too high, so back to my 9* club.

Was that with a SLDR....?

Was it the SLDR and what was your spin rate?

I havent tried the SLDR, but i swapped my driver last week to a Bio Cell + (stiff) set at 9.5', which is lofted way down from the 12' Titleist 910 D2 i was hitting previously. I was looking for less spin and i almost halved the spin rate with this switch. My swing speed is averaging 105mph. I think the weighting is a bit different when compared to the SLDR ?

SLDR is not the only low forward CG driver in town the original covert tour had the cg low and forward, perhaps not as extreme as the SLDR. But it is very low spin and most people lofted up a bit with that club, including tour pros.
TM are undoubtably the best at shouting about it.

ON my Titleist 913D2 I change the weight on the back of the club and made it lighter, I tried the loft up thing but that didn't work for me, so it's back to where it was previously and with the lighter back end, the driver is working well.

Clearly they are not that good at it as lots on here (and this is a pretty well informed community) seem lost by the concept!
