I'm playing my 1st ever round as a member at Royal Ascot tomorrow in a Roll up with Homer. I've been a bit concerned that frost might put us on temps but I've just checked and the are now forecasting bl**dy snow for tomorrow morning.

Temps I can handle, a closed course after the trouble we had in December would just about break me. Let's just hop they've got it wrong as usual

Look on the bright side. If it snows it means you will not have to suffer 4 hours with Homer, every cloud and that!!!

;)

Only doing the nine holes? surely spending the 5 mins looking for all dem balls would take longer! :D

Not worried about temps, we wont be on them, I dont want to carry thought!!

Mike,

Not sure what forecast you are looking at. This is Metcheck for tomorrow

I reckon they might start on temps and move them onto proper greens as the frost melts away. BTW I'll be there about 7.45. I presume you know where everything is and you have your own swipe card now

What time you playing 10am,you''l need your customary 2 hour warm up ,lesson, short game lesson ,see if you,ve enough balls ,man you better get there at 7. :)

Well it didn't snow, only rained a bit and we were only on temps for 3 holes. To top it off my 32 points was enough to pip Homer by 2 (thanks largely to Homer forgetting to play the last 2 holes)

No blobs for me, I played pretty well and but for a few fat wedges and chips I might of scored better but all in all it was a decent start at my new club.

Hawkeye did well after an initial bout of the thins. I managed not to cpmplete three holes in total through incompetence but was bolstered by a surprise return to form with the short game. Mike had a few chipping and pitching issues but once he ironed those out he had a decent round and was pretty steady on the back nine.

Sadly I'd listened to the BBC and Metcheck which both said cloudy and no rain so was hacked off to have a series of frequent drizzly showers and no waterproofs. No excuses though other than I was trying a turn on a flatter plane after something clicked at the range last night and found that it may not have been the eureka moment I'd been hoping for

Don't give up on the swing change just yet Homer. You hit some good shots and you have to expect some bad ones when trying something new.

I think my thins were a direct result of not warming up. Can't remember the last time I didn't warm up and it showed the 1st 4 holes. The pitching and chipping woes I'll put down to lack of playing over the last few months. Wedges from inside 100yds are normally one of my strengths so a bit more practice and hopefully I'll be back up to scratch (not in h'cap terms)
