Started the day scraping the windscreen. Got to the course for the pre game warm up, the ice was clogging on the soles to give them wobbly high heel things we all get.

For the first tee shot I felt happy, striped it right down the middle. More than happy especially as there was a gathering of around 10people plus others in the shop. A nice draw to 230 yards. 2nd onto the green then 3 putted (Our track was on normal green, which was wrong, the surface was frozen bobly and like putting on egg boxes. Still happy with a Bogey, Parred the next 3 holes thena few bogey and dbl bogey's.

All in all considering the bitter cold wind, the state of the greens and having to move the ball from the fairways to the 1st cut inside 180 yards I was made up to shoot 6 under my handicap. That included a few bunkers and water penalty and an unplayable.

How did others fare with the changing conditions today

Why did you think it was wrong you was on full greens? Most people hate temps.

Hit the practice ground. Working on distance control for my pitching from 40, 50, 60 and 70 yards reverting to the linear method. Fantastic mornings work but freezing cold once the sun went in. Only 9 holes open on temps and those that ventured didn't seem to have enjoyed it that much so might have made a good call

Yes, pretty much like you. Long drive down the 1st, 8 iron 15 yards out the back of the green, chip and 2 putts for a pretty good bogie and a half - back to golf 2014 even if it was frosty and bright sunlight going to mushy as it defrosted. A halved 4bbb friendly game but were playing!

Arrived at St Andrews at 10 am this morning for a 10.30 tee time only to be met with freezing fog. A quick chat with the girl in the office who said all courses were closed and there would be an inspection at 11.00. Come 11.00 and a few coffees later, we were informed the courses were due to open at 11.30, so it was a quick run to the car park to get ready and thankfully, a good few had cancelled, so we got off at 11.45. By then there was only a slight frost in the ground so we ended up playing a leisurely 18 holes in really good conditions.

Ventured out at 1.30pm after the frost had thawed but the course was still on temps - managed 11 holes but then called it a day as heading out further we would have lost the light fairly quickly

Most of my game was fairly solid but struggling to hit the relatively small temps made me realise my approach game needs some work. Interesting that it took that for the realisation to hit me - normally I can hit a green OK but not a postage stamp - if I could now that would be some serious scoring potential!

Played gimmes within a putter length - not worth being too precious about it on temps in my opinion.

Scored decent enough and won the 3 ball - just great to get out really.
