Hi, anybody played any courses in the Northampton area? Going up at the end of May for a stag weekend alternative. Don't fancy Ibiza, so taking my father in law and two bro in laws (one soon to be married) for a round of golf. Two of us have handicaps in the high 20's the other two don't have handicaps but have played enough that they can get around. Cost not really an issue, just looking for a good track that doesn't require handicap certificates. Any suggestions welcome! Tah

Not the best of areas in the world for golf courses. The best course is Northampton County but youre highly unlikely to get on there, Collingtree Park is a decent track, quite long with a fair bit of water, not sure about weekend access, Whittlebury Park may be a decent option (they have 27 holes) and was a decent deal about i think on groupon recently so may have better chance of getting on at a weekend. Other options would include Brampton Heath, Silverstone, Staverton Park (a Devere a bit further north)

This is the Whittlebury groupon deal, sadly only midweek and Im assuming you want a weekend? May be worth picking the phone up and saying youve seen this deal and is there anything they could offer for a weekend 4 ball on a similar basis

Feel free to ask if want any further help on the courses, I know most of them or can find out if not

Cheers, my bro in law lives locally so is testing a few out. He's suggested Brampton or Wellingborough. Can get both of those for £25 each which at weekend is a lot cheaper than here in Kent.

That deal looks good, but the wives are up too, so meal plans sorted.

if the wives are up then there is a very good spa at Whittlebury ;)

Wellingborough supposed to be nice, on my to play list this year, a little surprised you can get on there at the weekend

Well it will be a last minute decision. Found a website with last minute tee times. Last five weekends there have been tee times available to book 3/4 days in advance for £25.

I played Collingtree and really enjoyed it. Super course a bit too much Goose mess on some fairways but nothing to bother about. Great set up and a nice course too.
