What would be consdiered the best links in the North East but specically thinking from no further north than Blyth and down to Middlesborough.

Between Blyth and Boro
I'd say Seaton Carew
Not much else inbetween really mate

Cleveland is decent , though now the dashing Hobbit has left , it will be all the worse for the loss;)

Should just add
I do enjoy playing Newbiggin, though not as highly ranked as Seaton Carew, always has very good greens, and another I've not played, which is always getting recommended is Hartlepool.

I haven't played Seaton Carew but that is the one talked about up here by those in the know. Only just north of Blyth is Newbiggin GC. Again, I have not played it but a decent single figure player I know talks highly of it. Not at the same level as Seaton Carew but very respectable all the same. (just seen Moogie's post which mirrors this paragraph. I didn't copy you, honestly)

We have quite a few cliff top courses or courses by the sea but they are not links in style.

Thinking of a visit or just curious?

Seaton Carew mate, absolutely without a doubt, unless it's winter, then Cleveland Golf Club in Redcar reckon their greens are better.

If you fancy playing is a shout, also 2blue was a Country member there last year and still might be.

Thanks fellas, I knew Seaton Carew was well spoken of but was unsure of the likes of Hartlepool.

Assumption is if we talk further south into North Yorkshire moors then it's Ganton (more heathland though I think) or is there anything of note North of Scarborough?

Seaburn isn't bad, Scarborough itself has 2 Courses and 1 at Whitby, one of the Scarborough courses has a better reputation than the other but are priced similarly

Val, why that area and why links out of interest? There are better areas for links courses, Scotland obviously plus North Berwich area and the North West of England. The NE can offer some very decent courses but we are not overflowing with strong links courses.

I may find myself in that area frequently so just doing some spade work for after work summer golf.
