I'm off to stay in the Lynmouth area of North Devon next week with my wife & another couple and wondered whether any of you guys can recommend any good, friendly courses in the area that we could play.
All advice gratefully received.

You are well placed to get to either Saunton or Burnham&Berrow, both of which are top quality links courses. Also close to Ilfracombe (Pokerjoke is a member there) so he can give you the lowdown on that course. Inland you have Taunton&Pickeridge and Enmore Park. Not played T&P but heard good things about it, Enmore isn't my cup of tea but still a decent track.

Saunton, Saunton and more Saunton.

Probably a bit more Saunton as well.

£45 after 2.30pm is a bargain!

I'd never go down there and not play Saunton, East & West if I could, great course/s. I really liked Taunton Pickerage, very good parkland course and very friendly also. Obviously you've got Burnham & Berrow also and Pokerjokes course at Ilfracombe.

Hi mate if your down this way Ilfracombe is a must.

This week is open week and the course is in amazing condition, unfortunately myself and my dad
have not played 18 holes well yet but have had some cracking back 9s,however we have to start better.
Anyway give me a shout and if im around and you want to play I can sign 3 of you in and I believe it will be £15 and it will be the best £15 of your holiday.

It a little hilly so electric trolleys or a buggy might be a better ploy,me I just like to walk as I can enjoy the views more.
Maybe also a late afternoon or an early round might be better.

Thanks for all the info guys .
I've already played both Saunton courses, awesome they were too.
Ilfracombe looks interesting and I will probably give that a go, cheersfor the heads up pokerjoke and thanks for the kind offer too but I've no idea which days we'll be playing.

Played both Royal North Devon and Bude last month. Both really good fun and in nice nick.

Bude is in great nick at the moment as they had the Cornwall Golf Union golf week there a few weeks ago. Came second in the foresomes comp. Only thing I didn't like was on the back nine it does become a bit of a shooting gallery when it's busy. RND is a nice course with some interesting features especially on a warm summers day when the picnickers are out having lunch on the fairways!
From where you are I would have to make the trip up to Burnham and Berrow as it's a fantastic course.
