Non golfer to scratch in a year could it happen ?

Absolutely no chance. Anyone who thinks it can be done obviously hasn't ever got down to a low handicap. The lower you get, the tougher it gets.

True, but if you are starting from scratch with someone who has natural ability and hasn't got to undo existing bad habits I think it's possible. Not a given, but possible

No mate, it isn't going to happen, regardless of ability. For a start, when you get down to Cat 1 you only come down 0.1 for every shot under CSS so you have to be a cumulative 50 under CSS in competitions just to get from 6 to scratch, never mind getting down to 6 in the first place.

What if the first handicap was scratch though? I don't think it's possible either mind you.

Really depends what handicap he (or she, sorry Miss Hormoan) gets when the first three cards go in. I'm not saying it's likely, but I believe with the right material it's possible.

First handicap would need to be scratch, or no chance. Possible, but very unlikely.

Chance to remain at scratch 20 rounds in, zero.
