It looks like Celtics 'zero tolerance' stance on racism is a bit more tolerant than 'zero' would appear to suggest.

Why do FAs not ban players sine die when their disciplinary board deem them to be guilty of racism if they are serious about kicking it out of football?
Getting the odd Black player to stand with a White player behind a lets kick racism out of football poster seems a bit pointless if you don't have the minerals to practice what you preach and actually kick the perpetrators out!

Not been found guilty and is denying the allegations. Not sure what you expect Celtic to do really..

You wouldn't happen to be a Rangers fan would you? ;)

What do you mean been found not guilty ? ( genuine question )

Thought he has been charged and thrn punished etc ?

The article has been updated since I read it this afternoon. At that point he was denying the allegations and Celtic were standing by him.. My mistake..:o

I think they are still appealing it mate

Think appeals now are a waste of time regardless of if they are right or wrong because the FA's appear to make sure there is no grounds - the documents are a mindfield

Celtics position will be simple on this one, they will appeal if they win all will be rosy in the garden if the original verdict stands he will be sent back to Villa as he is only on loan.
Ps from what I have heard it is one players word against another, if that is correct I don't see how you can find someone guilty let alone set a punishment of a 7 match ban? Surely there must be more to it?

So, should the club still support him then?

For me, and this would also apply to the FA official who was sacked for sexist comments, it would send a more powerful statement if the player was suspended (without pay), and forced to undergo some sort of education process. The Club could then claim that they have done all they can and can take further action if the offence is repeated.

Oooh great, Rangers V Celtic and racism all in one thread. What can possibly go wrong ;)

Nothing to do with Rangers.

This is about another club. A club that stated they have a zero tolerance approach to racism yet they appear to be standing by a guy that the disciplinary panel have deemed to be guilty of racism on the field of play.

And it's also about an FA/governing body that promote kicking racism out of football yet baulk at doing exactly that when presented with the chance to do just that, kick it out.

:)

Edit. Typo

1999? Really? Whataboutery and deflection the tried and tested defence.

Not having digs at Celtic, I have mentioned the FA here too.

This threads not about Rangers or Saurez either, so back on topic......

I mean, this is a club who have complained about alledged racism against them and their fans. You would think they would lead by example. No?

Poor deflection Val resulting in own goal IMHO we could be here all night reflecting on the past, I have already stated that I believe it to be a poor show if it was a simple ones word against another!!

What have the club done wrong? The player said he didn't and they back him, what are they meant to do?

As for whataboutery, I didn't see you post a thread about the East Stirling player racially abused on the park by other players, why? I think we all know why, it wasn't Celtic.

And a bit more recent, what about Rangers for CEO and his racist remarks about his business partner or the mass chanting by the rangers support singing the famine song.

I'd have had more respect for you if you didn't have the better than you attitude. Like I said, let he he is without sin cast the first stone.

If he tells them he didn't make any racist comment(s) and there's no evidence to the contrary what can they do? If they got rid he could go after them for wrongful dismissal etc. these one word against another cases are difficult IMO

Unlike Terry who was filmed saying it and still claimed innocence!
