I damaged the ligaments in my knee on saturday, so currently hobbling about on crutches feeling sorry for myself.

Not sure whether they have snapped or just severely stretched. But either way I'm going to be out of action for quite a while.

I guess I'll be playing Tiger Woods09 to get my golf fix! :(

Take your time before you put pressure on the knee. I've got 2 dodgy ones and you need to be careful with them.

Bad Luck and hope you have a speedy recovery

Sneds, this is the best time of the year for it to happen if it had to happen at all, imagine all the drinking without having to be designated driver and bad golf weather you can now avoid.

Lol this made me laugh, thanks Brendy. I'll definitely take these positives with me. Means a lot more poker now too! Maybe more university work though? Lol.

Sneds..Bummer of an injury.Don't try to rush back though, could put you back even further!
I've got pins in my knee(and ankle)so know the frustations involved.
Start easy with the rehab and build up from there!
Best of luck!!

Gave up football in my late 20's. We were only a pub side and not much cop but in it for the team spirit. Got fed up of waking up after a heavy night and feeling rough and then watching 18 year old wingers fleece me (played left back). I did play 1/2 decent once. Played for a team called Banstead who are now down in Ryman South or some such league and only played one game. It was an FA Cup qualifier against Hastings Town and I played 8 minutes before I got clattered and came off with a a damaged knee. Never played for them again. Total non league career = 2 reserve team sub appearances and 8 minutes of first team football.

Having snapped both my cruciates and had ACL reconstructions on them I know how you feel, both through football too.

If you heard the pop I fear it may well be a snapped ligament.

Good luck with the rehab, I am back playing football twice a week however my knees will never be the same.

I feel for you sneds, I played football for a lot of years and still played some sunday league and 5-aside up to the age of 46, I know your injury so be careful as it can sometimes need more care than a break.

If you are doing Uni work sound like you are young enough to get over your injury quickly. I'm now 36 and have found that getting over injuries is a lot harder as i get older. I broke my tibia & fibula in 6 places when i was 15 (also playing football) but was playing again within 6 months. Now I have a ITB (Illio Tibial Band) injury and have had it for over 12mths now!

Anyway best of luck with your rehab mate ;)

Done my ACL 20 years ago and had to give up football however i was able to play golf without any problems...since had the bad knee fixed only to snap ACL in other knee playing fives....i then knew it was time to give up and concentrate purely on golf. Missing football i could cope with i would be gutted if i could not play golf.

chin up mate, atleast take a positive from it, You can still practice your putting! It should be well hot by the time you get round to playing again.

I feel for you mate, a week without a game is long enough for me!
