I believe the number one swing fundimental in the golf swing is maintaining your spine angle.

What do you think is the No 1 swing fundimental:

release the club head. i keep repeating this as its improved my game so much in the last two weeks. :) sorry for sounding like a broken record.

Reeeeeellllllaaaaaaxxxxxx!!!

ill expand on this further by saying .....

make sure you make up your mind what you are going to do. if your in between a 9 or an 8 iron. choose one and make up your mind. theres nothing worse than swinging and thinking at the top of the backswing "is this the right club?".

for me its the take away, making sure i get enough width else the mother of hooks rears its ugly head

SB you beat me to it:thup:

Other than hitting the ball setting up correctly. You can have a full swing, 3/4 swing, 1/2 swing and a weak or strong grip but if your set up is not correct you won't be consistent in hitting the ball in terms of direction and distance. :fore:

That's where a lot of hackers get caught up the 'hit' just swing and let the ball get in the way, no forcing it or hitting... well that's my view :o

In my swing now I see the ball just "getting in the way" at the right point of my swing. But if I was asked to describe to a non-golfer what I am doing it would still be "hitting the ball".

To another golfer I actually would even say I "Trap" it, it gets in the way, gets trapped and escapes :) (and makes that nice click off the iron face)

I really doubt a beginner could understand the concept of letting the ball get in the way, maybe an experienced hacker could, but not the ley or beginner.

I know it said the one thing, but

If you have one of the laws without the other 4, it's not going to be pretty.
To play well you need

1. Speed
2. Hit the sweet spot.
3. Good angle of attack
4. Good swing path
5. Control the club face direction.

Never fails to hit the nail on the head.
